Our love for brogues here at Shoewawa is well-documented, but that approval certainly doesn't extend to all variants on the style: take this flatform lace-up creation for example. The unwieldy shoe is a dizzying mismatch of chunky and intricate designs, and appears to be made partly out of aluminium foil.
In fact, what this shoe most reminds me of is a Pepsi can. It would look great incorporated into a Halloween clown costume, or perhaps along with some stars and stripes for American independence day. But I certainly can't see it fitting into anything more everyday than that! Consign it to the dressing-up box...
With Mad Men still dominating the hearts of fashion and TV lovers everywhere, it's no surprise to see a rise in the number of pointed, ladylike heels in stores.
It's a strong contrast to the fetish shoes we've been discussing this week, but a great buy if you want something to go with all those pencil skirts and wiggle dresses.
I love the contrast here of the blue and the different browns. It could look overpowering, but somehow it works.
Now that the temperature has started to go South, I am absolutely drooling over these rusty orange knee-length boots, currently on sale at Office. They strike me as being the perfect October purchase, both in terms of their autumnal colouring and obvious warmth.
The boots have a chunky heel and platform, both covered by soft tan leather in the gorgeous fall leaves hue. We particularly love the woven detail at the top of the boot, which adds to the laid-back 70s chic vibe.
God Save My Shoes is the first documentary film to explore the intimate relationship women have with their shoes. Starring Kelly Rowland, Stacy Furgoson and Dita Von Teese, pictured above at the US premiere, it's a bit of a must-see for footwear fanatics.
The film's directors wanted to find out exactly why so many women (and a fair few men) are obsessed with footwear. This quest took them all around the world, interviewing designers including Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik, a handful of 'extreme shoe collectors' and some shoe-loving celebrities along the way.
Dita rocked up at the premiere in suitably vampish attire, including a Lulu Guinness clutch and a pair of matching Ruby slippers. In fact, being entirely red, the entire outfit was 'matching'...

As gravity-defying heel free shoes make a return to the catwalk, we're seeing a fresh crop of bizarre (if a little more wearable!) shoes appear on the shop shelves. One of the biggest trends this season is hollow wedges: a cut-out variant of the full wedge that was such a hit this summer.
But what do you think of them: do you covet the cut-out style? Let us know below...

Love brogues but hate flat shoes? At 5"1 I'm certainly more comfortable with a bit of lift, so I was delighted when the preppy style started to gain a bit of height. D&G were responsible for the first high brogue shoe we drooled over, and since then, the high street has dutifully followed suit, with affordable high-heeled brogue boots and shoes for everyone. Hurrah!
Many of the heeled brogues have been adapted for the autumn/winter seaason, giving us some enclosed bootie styles that will be nice and snuggly in a cold snap. Shown above, clockwise from top left:

Shoe-style brogues are also big business this season, and look great worn with a maxi skirt. We love these two styles from Bertie and M&S:Autograph collection; both super comfortable to wear and hitting all the right style notes for autumn. The M&S pair get a particular Shoewawa seal of approval for being made with Insolia technology, which makes the heels particularly easy on the feet.
