If, like me, you have a little bit of an obsession with making sure that the feet you slide into those fabulous party sandals don't shame you into hiding them beneath the table all night, Christmas is probably one of your favourite times of year: not because of all the party sandals (although those are good, too), but because of all of the foot care kits that start to go on sale at this time each year.
River Island are the latest high street footwear retailer to realise that perfect shoes demand perfect feet. Their foot care kit is £9.99 and contains everything a girl will ever need to make sure her feet are sandal-ready this Christmas. It's a nice shocking pink colour, too!

Shoes with pretty, patterned insoles are the footwear equivalent of wearing fabulous underwear: no one but you knows they're there, but they make you feel that little bit more glamorous all day long. If I had to buy a pair of insoles, then, I'd be very tempted to go for this pair from Topshop, which are a world away from the boring, beige blandness we've come to associate with most insoles. They're £2.50 per packet, and hey - who knew something so practical could also be so much fun?

Roller discos are making a bit of a comeback. Just a few weeks ago social diva Peaches Geldof was papped at a roller disco in South London. Well, the idea of actually skating sounds a bit dangerous to me but why not nod to the trend with this funky ring? If not for you then why not get it as a stocking filler for just £3.50!

Clear shoe boxes have been being used by shoe lovers all over the world for years now (Well, they're a lot less hassle than the old "Polaroid on the shoe box" trick), but these new ones from Shoe Stör mean that your boots don't have to be left out.
Tall enough to accommodate all those pairs of knee high boots you've been collecting (or is that just me?), they make it possible for you to stack your boots in the same way you stack your shoes, keeping them free of dust at the same time. They come in packs of five, and cost $47.99.

The best thing about winter is wearing tights: thankfully you can get them in every shade and texture your heart desires. I love these metallic ribbed tights from Oasis (£8), the sparkle is dressy but the ribbing makes it bit more dowdy, in a good way! I think it would look great with worn with a miniskirt, ankle boots and an extra pair of socks for slouchy layering chic and to take the edge off the ritzyness.

This has to be a strong contender for the title of "most bizarre shoe accessory of the year", because once you've finished polishing your shoes with it, you can polish your lips with it too. Now there's something you can't say about ordinary shoe polish, can you? It's Po-zu's new edible coconut shoe cream, which you can also use as a beauty aid, on your hair, skin and lips. Oh, and you can cook with it or even eat it, too. Truly multi-purpose, but just the tiniest bit bizarre, it costs £5 per pot and will be available from November 25th.

We've talked before about the importance of looking after your feet properly if you're going to be showing them off in sandals, but winter is traditionally a time when many of us let things slide a little, hiding our tootsies under tights and boots to keep out the cold. The Christmas party season is just around the corner, though, and Christmas parties tend to mean sparkly, strappy sandals, so you have just a few weeks to get your feet back into shape. Even if you don't want to buy Faith's GPEDI Pedicure Gift Set as a gift, then, you may want to consider buying it for yourself: foot soak, 3 emery boards, foot lotion, heart toe dividers and a bottle of red nail polish, and is £8.
