If you're noticing a theme here at Shoewawa today, be reassured, it's not just us, it's the shoe world in general, deciding to give flats their moment in the sun and making them in all kinds of party-worthy materials. Glitter always rears its sparkly head in the run-up to the party season, and Dorothy Perkins are clearly making sure they get in first with these glitter covered flats. They come in either black or pewter, are just £18, and will make a shiny alternative to heels on a night out.

The suede may be faux, but for just $24.80, I think you could probably forgive these 'Emily' pumps from Forever 21, and learn to love them anyway, no? These are very much on trend at the moment, tapping into the fashion for both shoe boots and lace-ups, but I think they're a particularly nice interpretation of the look, in a style that will work equally well with a casual pair of jeans or more formal outfit. The soft grey is also very versatile, making these a great autumn buy that won't cost the earth.

"Oxford booties are all the range this season," says the Payless website. Well, they were all the rage last season, too, but that won't stop is buying some more, especially when they're only $24.99,. will it?
These boots will look particularly good with the menswear inspired pieces that are still hanging around, but they'll be versatile to throw on with a skirt or pair of jeans, too. The materials are manmade, as you would expect at that price, but at least they should be reasonably waterproof, too.

Wow. Would you have guessed these shoes were from Next? I wouldn't have, but now that I've found them - and found that they're only £25, into the bargain - I've put them straight onto my wish list. These look fabulous as shown in the picture, with black opaque tights, and would be a really easy way to make a boring work outfit or plain dress that bit more interesting.
The little button on the strap also gives then a bit of old-fashioned appeal, and helps them look like they're worth more than just £25! Buy them here.

These shoes will only be a "bargain" if you consider £72.50 to be budget priced, but as we're now reaching the very end of the Net-a-Porter summer sale, and there's only a few more days to pick up these, and other, "bargains", I thought I'd show them to you anyway. In their defence, these shoes are now 50% off, and as they're the kind of shoe you'll get loads of use out of, you may consider them an investment. They're in the summer sale, but that yellow will carry you through to Autumn and Winter easily enough, providing a simple way to brighten up the darker shades of the coldest months of the year. Get them at Net-a-Porter.

The sales are mostly full of flip flops, sandals and other strappy shoes at the moment, but there are still winter bargains to be found, like these boots from Barratts, which are just £10. These aren't leather, and you wouldn't expect them to be for that price, but if you're looking for casual boots on a budget, it doesn't get much cheaper than these.
The flat shape and small heel will make these ideal walking boot, and the wide leg will make them easy to tuck your jeans into on those days when the rain puddles threaten to cover the pavement. Get them here.

I never thought I'd hear myself say it, but after the horrendous summer we've had in the UK this year, I'm starting to see how peep toe booties could come in useful after all. These ones from Target are only $26.99, which could make them an easy, affordable way to try out this trend, and I actually think the pewter colour makes them look more expensive than they are. They're also available in brown and black, and are a fairly fashion-forward style for the budget retailer, which is good news for those of us shopping on a serious budget.
