Irregular Choice have always been a bit of a risqué choice ‘round here, but don’t you think that the print on these heels is exquisite? Reminiscent of the gorgeous, decadent colours of a peacock’s tail feathers, even the slightly odd shape can’t detract from their beauty. Aptly named ‘Titania’ - and I can quite imagine the Queen of Faeries happily flitting about in these! - they’re reduced to £38.50 from £55 at the Irregular Choice store.

French Connection have probably been best known for their ubiquitous sequin dress over the past year, but I think we should be paying a bit of lip service to their fabulous footwear instead. Case in point, these stunning peep-toes. In classic black and with a very elegant shape, it's the metallic gold knot detail on the vamp that really catches one's eye. A party heel that will last you years, but easily dressed down if you're more 'casual glam', they're a bargain £45 down from £80 at Red Direct.

Marks and Spencer aren't usually known for their bargains, but it seems that there's a change in the wind. First, we had a lovely pair of red patent courts, and now these snake-print stunners. In a style that would work well as a glamorous day shoe and even better for evenings on the town, we love them for their Mary Jane strap and peep-toe detail (two of our favourite things!). Also available in pewter and patent red, they're just £19.50 from M&S!

If you're a fan of Art Deco design, then you're going to love these shoes. The down side? Only those of you who wear a UK6 will be able to enjoy them. In a decadent mix of olive-grey patent and metallic copper leather, the cut-out fan detail on the heel sets my shoe-loving heart on fire. This shoe will transform your spring frocks from fair to flawless. Equally beautiful from the front and back, they're half price at £55 from Office.

We're pretty shoe-mad here at Shoewawa, so this revelation may shock you: there are other things we love too! (Yes, yes, get your gasping and fainting done now.) For example, as writers, we're pretty fond of the written word. Add the two together and what do you get? A book about shoes!
Now, the name 'Jonathan Walford' may not be a name bandied about with those of lust-worthy-shoe designers, but as founding curator of the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, I say that we owe him our respect. Still, if you're not willing to take our word for it, just check out his book, 'The Seductive Shoe'! Featuring not one, not two, but FOUR centuries of fashionable footwear, the book explores how major historical events, social change and industrialisation have influenced the style and production of footwear. Did I mention it features hundreds of photographs for you to drool over?
So, what will you pay for such a marvellous investment? A bargain $26.40 from Amazon.com.

It might be halfway through the British winter, but as residents will tell you, the chill will last well into spring; so why not invest in some boots to see you through 'til summer! These boots from Faith have a very Victorian feel, no doubt related to the long lace-up detail; and if you like to wear your boots over your skinny jeans (who wants soaking wet cuffs anyway, I ask you!), the lace-ups should allow a little room for those extra curvy calves. Best of all, they're on sale while they're still in season, at just £60 from £110.

One of the most underrated stores in Britain (in my humble opinion), particularly when it comes to shoes, is Matalan. Not quite posh enough to register on many a girl’s ‘high street’ map, the store has done a remarkable job of improving their footwear range over the past two years. Case in point, these sequin-embellished flats. They may not be “original”, but they’re practical and fun; they’re a great way to jazz up your jeans by day or to pair with a sparkly dress by night; and they’re available in about half the colours of the rainbow, which should satisfy the requirements of most wardrobes! So, what will all of this cost you? A measly £8 from Matalan. I’ll take them in every colour, thanks!
