I did a bit of a double-take when I was told that this trainer was part of the new range from Vivo Barefoot, the eco chic range from Terra Plana, whose styles are usually a bit jelly-like and are generally very minimal.
But that's because this is the first time VB have turned their ergonomic footwear designs into fully-fledged trainers, and very cool they are too. The choice of colours is vivid, fun and very now, but entirely wearable and subtler styles are available too.

The words 'sportswear' and 'chic' seldom inhabit the same universe, but Lacoste is one of the rare exceptions to that rule. Despite its many impersonators, the croc motif spell quality and I've always admired the label's eye for good fabrics and colours.
Both are evident in the new Lacoste range that will launch exclusively at Office in December. The lightweight 'Gambetta' collection of colourful trainers is a reworked classic style that picks up on the trend for geometric styling and acid brights. Even more exciting is the 'Bundle' boot, pictured below, which is a sort of hybrid wellington and Ugg that's far more attractive and wearable than either! The bundle boot will go on sale at Office for £60.
I've always thought that if you're buying trainers, you might as well have a bit of fun with the fabrics and colours. Normal rules don't apply to sports shoes, so my general rule of thumb is just to go for the ones made from the coolest materials.
And personally, I quite like the scrunchy, shiny fabric that Clarks have used in their new sportwear range, particularly Jetty Wave (bottom)'s midnight blue. It has a deep sheen to it that would look fab peeping out from under your jogging pants and could work just fine with jeans, too.
Jewel (top) is £39.99 and Jetty Wave is coming soon.

Mid-cut trainers are the casual shoe's answer to ankle boots. They're versatile, practical in winter and really comfy to walk (and run, and hike) about the place in. And fortunately for us, they're back in style, too! Sienna Miller and a host of other celebs who know their stuff have been spotted in these shoes, and they look set to make a comeback.
Take a trip back to 1988 - think Smash Hits, Swatch watches and clashing colours, and you're back in the era of the mid-cut trainer. The vivid purples and lavenders will add a daring touch of colour to an all-black outfit, while the black and orange style will give a sporty touch to your jeans outfit.
All styles £65.99, exclusive to Foot Locker
What is it about superheroines and footwear at the moment? I've seen at least three styles modelled on Wonderwomans red white and blue ensemble so far this year, and here's another from Reebok. But somehow I think the style works better as a casual shoe: while the colours look tacky on a sandal or court shoe, I think the trainer style works pretty well.

Desert boots have been due a revival for some while now, and with a 90s flashback looming, we should all be getting ourselves used to the idea around now.
Clarks Originals should help that process along as they've just launched a fun, limited edition collection of bold and decorative desert boots - each one representing a specific decade in the 60 years since the style was first devised. So there's a Harris Tweed boot to stand for the 50s, a groovy purple fringed suede boot for the 70s, a stonewashed denim boot to represent the 80s.and many more to discover, charting the desert boots journey through history.
All boots in the collection are priced at £89 and available at Clarks Originalks
As fashionable as she may be, even Michelle Obama has her off-duty days. The First Lady was recently spotted out and about with hubby and kids in a pair of teal 'Malindi' slingback Crocs. Maybe this is what helped the struggling company get a much-needed injection of $30million? Either way, Tim Gunn wasn't too impressed...
