Let's be honest, when you consider who you'd look to for some style inspiration, you're pretty unlikely to consider putting the wife of an MP in the top 50. Put Cheryl Cole with her sexy skyscraper heels against Cherie Blair and her clumpy office courts, and it's pretty clear who's going to win the style scrap.
But perhaps these ladies are starting to take a bit of inspiration from the rather more stylish Michelle Obama. Michelle has been gathering fans across the world for her elegant and timeless style, and her determination to choose independent American designers.
One wife who's been taking tips is Samantha Cameron, wife of (future prime minister?) David Cameron. Samantha was snapped recently in three different outfits over a twenty four period, and she's definitely supporting British designers. She's doing a good job of supporting the British High Street. The first pair of boots she was seen in, a trusty older pair of LK Bennett flat boots (right), are sold out now but you can find a similar pair here for £295.

The weather has not been kind to us UK-dwellers this week, and the bad news is that rain doesn't care whether you're pounding the streets in £5 Peacocks' pumps or strutting your stuff in £500 Louboutins: tidemarks are tidemarks whatever the label.
One footwear loving celeb who found this out the hard way was seen making a run for it in the street yesterday, as she tried to minimise the damage to her red-soled treasures en route to work. Can you guess who it is? Answer after the jump

Katie Holmes is known to be a bit of a shoe connoisseur, so it was no surprise to see that The Nod had picked up on her love for these really rather showstopping pumps by Jerome C Rousseau, another pair of fabulous shoe's that have recently come under my radar featuring a 'top cap' style at the front.
The pink panelling at the back really needs to be seen close up to be appreciated, as it's covered in a reflective satin fabric. The heels is a muted acid yellow, which brings in a wonderfully discordant effect. If you want to brighten up your look with a pair of your own, you'll find them over at Net-a-Porter, where they've been reduced from £345 to £172.50. Not a bad deal at all!

Sarah Jessica Parker has complained in the past that Carrie's footwear choices have practically destroyed her feet, but it looks like the actress will be getting her own back in the forthcoming movie.
Spotted filming earlier this week, SJP was wearing not the toe-torturing Louboutins we were all expecting but a pair of rather comfy looking pale pink Swedish Hasbeens. She certainly looks at ease chatting to co-stars in the sandals, which are based on traditional clogs and are renowned for their foot-pampering properties, which include a springy a lime-tree wooden sole and super-soft leather. Will this lead to a comfortable footwear fashion revolution?

Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto clearly has a lot of love for British designer Rupert Sanderson, as she's been spotted wearing not one but two of his styles already this week - and it's only Wednesday!
Freida wore Sanderson's Inferno boots at the Hermes/Liberty event on Monday, and secondly in Rupert's Khyber cut out sandals at the GQ Men of The Year Awards last night. These are two different shoes for two very different looks: the sandals look amazing with an equally 'cut out' dress, while the heeled boots are the perfect finish for a more toned down look.
Khyber and Inferno are both available online from Rupert Sanderson.

Christian Louboutin has revealed that burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese is the inspiration behind his shoe empire. He explained: "Dita is the ultimate showgirl and top of my list of muses. When she was 11, she dreamt of living a glamorous life and now she lives the dream."
Von Teese has always had a special relationship with Louboutin's shoes. Earlier in the year she debuted his opulent Marie Antoinnette heels on the red carpet, and she was once papped showing off the underside of a very badly scuffed pair of red Louboutin soles, prompting some rather bitchy remarks on her attitude to shoe care. Personally, I think that's just evidence of a very much loved and well worn pair of shoes!
