I know bright shoes are hard to avoid right now, but I somehow don't think Katie Holmes got the look quite right at Monday's Costume Institute Gala, wearing electric blue stilettos with this shiny red dress. Of course, bright, pointy stilettos tend to give any outfit something of an 80s vibe, so perhaps Diane Kruger's look, with pink peep toes and a silver dress looked a little less dated.

Gwyneth Paltrow has really been giving her wardrobe a rev up on the promo trail for her new movie, Iron Man. While her new 'do might have been a talking point and all those mini dresses have certainly gathered the column inches, it was her skyscraper-high heels which have really taken centre stage.
In fact, such has been the impact of her recent stiletto antics, sales of uber-high heels have apparently shot up by 35% at Selfridges in the last week. Particularly in demand are the Alexander McQueen Languid court shoes (pictured above), with their square toe and cigarette heel, which she wore to the London premiere last week.

Effortless luxe, that's what these metallic sandals say to me. They are the perfect sandal for the foot shy, maximum ventilation and minimum foot exposure! Team them with a pair of jeans and a fitted mannish shirt for a chic casual outfit.
They are apparently modelled on Drew Barrymore's gladiator sandals and will set you back a mere £28 which is cheap for a bit of star style.

Last week's shoes didn't make a lot of impact on you, with the majority of you ending up giving them a 'Nay', despite quite liking some aspects of the shoes. They were Type z's Chloi shoes, and if you liked them, you'll find them at Zappos for $95.
There would be absolutely no point in me trying to hide the identity of this week's shoes, so I may as well just tell you that they're pink patent Dr Martens, which you can currently find at ASOS for £60. What I really want to know, though, is what you think of them. Clearly the likes of Agyness Deyn and Daisy Lowe have been helping bring the Doc Marten boot back into fashion over the past few months, but are you pleased to see them return, or would you rather they'd just left them where they were? Remember the silver d'orsay shoes Carrie Bradshaw "lost" at the baby shower when she and Stanford were forced to take off their shoes "for the kids"? They set her friend back $485 plus tax to replace them from Manolo Blahnik, and now you can get yourself a pair of the Manolo Blahnik Sedaraby heels too from Barney's. Only they've been marked up to $665 in the 10 years since that episode aired. Would you pay the extra $180 for these metallic silver shoes with the rhinestone detail?

Kate Bosworth is the little fashion maven these days, isn't she? Arguably, this isn't exactly her most fabulous fashion moment, but wearing these heels from Chloé's Spring Summer '08 collection, you can't fault her for trying to do something different. (Oh, and check out her Chloé Saskia bag!)

The weather has been a bit up and down lately - one day we're reaching temperatures of 18°C, a week later we're getting snowed on. So this may explain Alexa Chung's seasonal confusion, pairing some summery espadrilles with black opaques for the Rolling Stones' Shine A Light premiere in London last Wednesday.
We all know Alexa isn't one to follow the pack when it comes to fashion, and this has gained her plaudits from Tatler and Glamour who both included her in their top 10 best dressed lists. But we want to know, is this look fashion forward or just a fashion no-no?
