I know that some of you are shrieking 'NO!' right now, horrified that someone who writes about shoes all day long would even dare to suggest that Uggs have received an undeservedly unkind reputation, but give me a chance to explain myself before you switch off the computer in disgust.
First of all, I'm not trying to say that Ugg boots are particularly pretty or attractive. Secondly, it's just not just Uggs that I'm referring to here. Wellies (with, of course, a pair of thick knee high socks worn underneath), hell - even trainers, are also included in my secret I-don't-want-anyone-to-know-I-own-any-but-I-can't-live-without-them vault of shoe crimes.

Can anyone out there explain this trend to me? It's cropping up everywhere I look - boots with gathered elasticated tops - and I just don't get it. I may be causing some controversy, but I just can't help feeling this is one of those Emperor's New Clothes moments in shoe design. As quick to arrive in shops as thrown on the "so five minutes ago" pile, I just can't bring myself to buy in.
While I am a huge advocate of individual tastes, this is one I won't help but turn my nose up at every time I see a pair. This pair by Firetrap are a perfect example of what could have been a perfectly wearable boot, now ruined by one run-in seam of elastic gone awry. Am I overreacting? Is this a trend you're loving, or, like me, is it more fishing waders than fashion fabulous to you? If you simply must have this pair you can get 'em from Schuh for £199.99. But if they aren't in vogue next week don't say I didn't warn you.

It's not necessarily the easiest thing in the world to walk in high heels, but as the saying goes, practice really does make perfect. If you're not usually a fan of shoes resembling skyscrapers, but the high heel musings of Ms Shoewawa and my fellow shoe obsessed writers have inspired you to ditch the flats and give heels a go, take a look at our trusty tips before you set off.

It's been shoes-a-plenty this week as we've been enjoying one of the busiest weeks ever for the fashion team at Shiny Towers. We started off with a bit of live shopping for Catwalk Queen, followed by some very, very important meetings about London Fashion Week, and then our very first fashion shoot on Wednesday evening. With a glittery, metallic disco theme, our models were, unsurprisingly, shoehorned into silver slingbacks, bronze 'Dorothy' shoes and towering wedges. There's a video preview up already, and the results of the shoot will be on Catwalk Queen soon, so look out for that if you like a bit of glitz!

I have a problem. On Monday, I'm off on holiday for two weeks. "Great," I hear you say. "So what's the problem?" Well, the problem is that I'm already over my baggage allowance - and I haven't packed any clothes yet. So far, it's all shoes. I, you see, am bad at packing. I can't bear the thought of getting ready for an evening out on holiday, and realising that the perfect shoes for my outfit are 2,000 miles away, on my bedroom floor. "Just one more pair of heels," I'll think, slipping them into the case and then sitting on it to try and get it to close. "One more pair can't hurt, can they?"

Admit it - part of the appeal of Christian Louboutins are the unmistakable red soles and the nearly naughty peek of color just along the heel. And when you wear them, gawkers can tell from miles away exactly how much you spent on your lovely heels (approximately US$400) and what kind of classy lady you are (one with good taste, presumably).
So would you spend US$400 on Louboutins that only few could tell from another, potentially less expensive, shoe? Someday, I hope to be the kind of girl who can assemble a beautiful, chic outfit without high-end designer inspiration... but too often I need cues from the well-paid in the fashion world. So there, I'll be first to admit it - as much as I think there are quite beautiful aspects about a Louboutin heel besides its red sole, I'd be dissapointed if mine were mistaken for lesser, or even just different, shoes.

It goes without saying that all of the Shoewawa ladies are complete shoe addicts - an obsession that my boyfriend for one, can't understand at all (although having said that, he owns a grand total of two pairs of shoes and a pair of football boots, so I don't always take his advice into account). However, it'll probably surprise you all that we don't all own hundreds and hundreds of pairs of shoes.
