'Perfume' blue python shoes at Rupert Sanderson

rupert-sanderson-perfume.jpgThe unveiling of a new Rupert Sanderson shoe is always a happy event around here at Shoewawa, as we're huge fans of his intelligent and classy designs. So it's good to see some designs for the new season start to filter through.

Taking pride of place on his website at the moment is 'Perfume', a petrol blue python stiletto shoe boot with intricate buckle details and a delicate perforated pattern that makes the shoes just ooze style and character. I'd love a pair if I had a spare £895 in the shoe fund! Rupert Sanderson Perfume.

Diego Dolcini 'rosette' detail shoes

diego-dolcini-rosette.jpgI can't quite make my mind up about these ones. Although my gut response is 'eww, tacky!' I am a huge fan of the Marc Jacobs rosette bag, which I think is going to be a massive hit by winter time, so will these shoes win a spot beneath the Christmas tree too?

I'm not sure sure I'd want them under mine, because I don't like the copper and silver combination. But lose the clashing shades and this could be the ultimate party shoe! £614 at Farfetch

Beautiful studded velvet platform shoe by Prada

Prada-platforms-007.jpgI've blown this image up huge so you can see the detail and work that's gone into designing this glorious shoe. Who'd have thought that studs and velvet roses would sit so well together?

Prada's full A/W collection took me a while to come around to liking becuase it's so stridently different from anything else we've seen in a long time, and I even had a couple lined up for 'ugly shoe of the week!' Aside from the tree-trunk stems on many of the shoes, the colours are outrageous and there's not an ounce of subtlty in sight. But with pieces like this with their hard and soft elements that work so well together, how can you fail to be drawn in?

Rachel Zoe's one shoe love from Brian Atwood

brian-atwood-lola2.jpg
Stylist and blogging newcomer Rachel Zoe has revealed 'the light of her life' to us this week: it's a Brian Atwood 'shootie' called Lola, pictured above. The hidden platform ankle boots are also available in black, but Zoe has chosen the leopard print variety to share with us in her inaugural fashion report.

As a less expensive option, Zoe has suggested Steve Madden's Vipperr, which clocks in at US $129. The 'stringy straps' look is mostly confined to higher-end shoes at the moment, but it's certainly a look that's coming through strongly in those quarters, and is worth keeping an eye on. The Atwood shoes are £414 from Saks Fifth Avenue

Scarlett sizzles in mesh Louboutins

scarlet-johansson-louboutin-bridget.jpgIt's nice to see a pair of fabulous shoes 'in action', and Scarlett Johansson certainly did justice to Christian Louboutin's Bridget Strass shoes when she wore them to the Iron Man 2 premier at Comic-Con in California last month.

What particularly surprises me about the image on the left is how much better the shoe looks 'in situ' than it does in the product picture on the right, which looks garish. Louboutin really knows how to make footwear work in harmony with the body, and this is certainly a lesson in condemning a shoe before you've seen it on! [Via Shoeperwoman]

Balmain red-haute suede buckled ankle boots

balmain.jpgOK. so we get that the bondage look is back in and the next few months are going to go a bit fetishy and bizarre, but it's a bit dull when everything you see in the 'next season' section is black and white with silver?

Admittedly, that's one reason I was so drawn to the latest offer from Balmain. Not only is it breaking the mould with the daring use of red, but check out the crazy strapping: it's a bit sci-fi, a bit industrial and very, very cool. Being from one of the hottest shoe-shapers in the planet right now they're a not very recession-friendly £850 at Net-a-Porter, but keep your eyes peeled for copycat styles.

Pierre Hardy black and red peep toe high sandals

pierre-hardy-sandals.jpgThese fabulouslay striking Pierre Hardy shoes may be on a nautical kick, but it's a grown-up take on the trend that's far more eye-popping than Popeye. Their elegant summery look is all smooth lines and sheen, and I love how the oversized buckle provides extra retro appeal.

If you think these sandals would look even better with your jauntily painted toenails peeping out of them, you may have to go to Paris to find a pair. But if you're chic enough to rock shoes like these, I don't see that being a problem! Details at Pierre Hardy
