OK, I know they look disturbingly like K-Shoes -style granny sandals from some angles, but just stay with me on this one for a moment.
There are times when only a flat walking shoe will do, and for when these occasions roll around, Camper have created a colourful shoe that really puts the 'fun' in functional. I love the bright pinstripe panels and neon stitching, but it's the embroidered beads that give these sandals the edge over all the other walking shoes I've seen. So if you're planning on a hiking holiday, why not do it in style? £79.99 at Sole Trader

Take an otherwise plain t-bar sandal, 'Zanotti' it up by placing a satin rose on the front and you have got yourself one heck of a cute summer shoe.
Although we see floral embellishments a lot here at Shoewawa (especially from Mr Zanotti) these have something fresh about them, that we don't see every day. I love the red/white stripe on the rose and combined with the silver of the sandal, could be perfectly paired with your nautical-inspired attire, your frilly summer frocks or your basic jeans-and-tee combo. Dress them up, dress them down - we love a versatile shoe around here. And people: these Zanotti's are versatility at its best. On sale at Net-a-Porter for £240.

What do these thong sandals from Forever 21 remind you of? To me, they look like they have taken inspiration from Miu Miu's spring/summer '08 campaign, although I wouldn't go as far to say I could imagine Kirsten Dunst actually wearing them!
But the colourblocking, the colourway and the bow all add up to a very Harlequin-esque vibe don't you think? Perhaps you could pair them with a high-waisted puffball mini skirt, a loose, tucked-in vest top and some burgundy lippy to channel that Miu Miu vibe (but in a toned-down way). $14.80 from Forever 21.

I'm never quite sure how I feel about shoes with straps that wind their way up the ankles, like these ones from Barratts. On the one hand, the part of me that desperately wanted to be a ballerina when she was a little girl can definitely see the appeal of them, but the other, more practical side always wonders if the straps wouldn't just keep falling down my legs and annoying me all day.
If you're less conflicted about this style, these shoes have been reduced to just £12 in the Barratts sale, and you can also buy them in blue.

I know the picture of these shoes is really small, so if you like them you may want to pay a visit to the Oasis website, where you can use the 'zoom' function to have a better look at them, but having already done that, I think these are ideal party flats, for those occasions when you just know those spindly stilettos are going to leave your feet in shreds by the end of the night, but you still want to wear something a bit glamorous. Best of all, these have just been reduced to £15 in the Oasis sale, although, oddly, the silver version is still full-price, at £30.

Florals are still going strong well into this season but the savvy fashion fan is wearing them with a punky edge. Vagabond's low wedge sandals combine a cute floral print with '80s retro tough, perfect teamed with denim jackets, flouncy skirts and a pair of shades for an up-to-the-minute summer look.
Snap them up for £39.99, the sturdy rubber sole and leather upper means you can wear these into autumn with a pair of socks and skinny jeans.

Oasis' ballet pump is the pinnacle of cute, the patent toe cap is a great detail and contrasts nicely with the suede upper, stopping it from looking too girly. They're £35 and solidly constructed making an ideal shoe for cloudy summer days like today.
For a sassy take on preppy team the shoes with a fitted pencil skirt, cutoff baggy tee and a gold chain for maximum irony. If you prefer a more classic look they also come in black and white.
