Delias Myra rope thong

Delias-Myra-rope-thong.jpg I don't know what I would do without endless pairs of summer flip flops or sandals - they just make getting dressed so much easier and all it takes is a quick flick of the foot and one pair is off and the another pair is on. For a great fun day shoe, try these Delias Myra rope thongs - a little more special than a pair of rubber flip flops but still great to have around the beach this summer.

Marc by Marc Jacobs kid leather mules

kid-leather-mules.jpgI know mules aren't always a popular choice of shoe due to the difficulties they can pose when trying to walk in them, but I've always been quite keen on them for summer, and I love the colours Marc Jacobs has used in these ones. As well as the lilac/lemon mix shown here, these are also available in navy/mint, and would make a great pair of shoes for casual wear during the warmer months or on holiday. Just don't try to run for the bus in them, or you could end up leaving them behind! They're $239.95 from Zappos.

ASOS flower toe thong sandals

asos-fglower-toe-thong.jpgIf you live in the UK (or anywhere else that's currently freezing, for that matter), your feet have probably frozen just from looking at these little flip flops. They're only £11.75, though, and you have to plan ahead, so if you're planning a trip somewhere warm this year (or just hoping we get a good summer at home), they could be a good buy. They'll also help take your mind of the current icy weather for a few minutes, at least!

Gurkees: the most natural shoes in the world?

rope-shoes.jpgWe could all do with a bit of escapism on a miserable day like this, so let's imagine being somewhere you could get away with wearing nothing on your feet but these hand-made 'Gurkees' rope sandals that are so light they even float! They have that rare simple-but-stylish quality about them that works so well for holiday or festival-wear, and I can almost feel the sun beating down on my back just looking at them. They come in lots of lovely colours, but I like the simplicity of the natural rope. £29 from Beyond Shoes

Miu Miu's toe ring flats

miu-miu-flats-toe.jpgThese shoes probably aren't ones I'd buy myself, but I do think it's nice to see something a little different in the world of toe-post sandals! The square green toe strap is certainly more interesting than most thong styles, and the soft leather complements it nicely. I think I'd prefer these if the back was open rather than closed, but they'd make great casual shoes for the hotter weather I hope is coming in a few months time! They're £445 from Saks.

French Connection bow detail thong sandals

fc-thong-sandals.jpgIt still feels far too early to be thinking about summery sandals (at least for those of us living in the northern hemisphere) but the world of fashion marches on, and of course, now that the Spring/Summer collections are starting to arrive, sandals are what's on offer! I like these ones from French Connection which have a simple, delicate look with the little bow adding a bit of decoration. They'll be perfect during the summer for casual but pretty looks - it's just a shame we'll have to wait so long to get any use out of them!

Police to issue free flip-flops to women too tipsy to walk

Thumbnail image for accessorize flip flops.jpgThis has to be the funniest (yet also the most practical) story that I have picked up on lately.

Police in Devon are offering women a helping hand (or foot rather) by providing free flip-flops to those who may have one too many Pinots and can no longer walk in their heels. A whopping £30,000 of taxpayer's money is going on the scheme to reduce the number of injuries caused by women ditching their heels at the end of an evening to walk barefoot.

"Sometimes people get drunk and you see them carrying footwear which is inappropriate," said Inspector Adrian Leisk. "The emphasis is on providing replacement footwear for people to get home in, should they find their high heels uncomfortable, inappropriate or soiled."

The initiative will begin next month, just in time for the Christmas party season. Ladies: do take note of Redfoot After Party Shoes, they are a Godsend. [via Telegraph]
