'Pandora' by Poetic Licence - thong sandals with jewels

pandora-thong-sandals.jpgGood news for Poetic Licence fans: the brand has just launched their own online store, and I didn't have to look at it for very long to find something I wanted to buy. These 'Pandora' sandals instantly jumped out at me, not just because I'm in a holiday mood, but because of those two big gemstones on the front of them. These are the glamorous way to wear flip flops, and although the £57 price tag is more than I'd usually pay for this style of shoe, I can certainly see why they're on the expensive side.

'Shore Thing' flip flops new from Patagonia

patagonia flip flops.jpg£45 for a pair of flip flops may initially seem a little steep, but thinking about it, just how useful is a pair of cool, functional thong shoes that will see you through the summer without wrecking your feet?

These attractive, foot-adjusting flip flops are new from eco-friendly clothing brand Patagonia and being extremely lightweight, they'll be your best friend when you pack for your hols. Made from cork and recycled rubber, the hippy in you will love them too.

3.1 Phillip Lim Athena flat sandals

31-philliplim-31041.jpg I know that Phillip Lim is partnering up with Birkenstock for a collection of shoes, but I am rather disappointed that the sandals (especially these Athena flats) reflect the chic style of the clothing line. That thought aside, the leopard print ponyskin flat would certainly help you stand out this summer thanks to the bold print. Though I think its kind of strange that there are more straps across the ankle than the foot... they will also set you back a pretty penny from Net-A-Porter.

Biarritz Heart Thongs by Yves Saint Laurent

yves-saint-laurent-biarritz.jpg

I don't know about you, but I'm just not sure I could bring myself to spend $195 on a pair of rubber flip flops, no matter how cute they were, or what designer logo they had stamped on the heel. These ones are Yves St Laurent's 'Biarritz' heart thongs (they're out of stock at the moment, but can usually be found at Saks), and while the love heart toe post and tie ankle strap certainly sets them apart from the usual cheap flip flops we all tend to buy to get us through the summer, they're still ultimately a pair of rubber sandals. Would you pay $195 for them? Come to think of it, would you wear them at all?

Skechers Banded thong sandal

V275746.jpg Remember when Skechers were actually a cool shoe to wear in the late 1990s? Well the brand doesn't quite have the same clout, and you don't see them coming back into favour when you look at these Banded Thong Sandals by Sketchers. The Victoria's Secret website touts them as a "golden opportunity for casual chic" but I really don't agree. Would you pay $34 for these "comfy" sandals?

Forever 21 Pella Jelly Thong

pella_jelly.jpg

While there might not be many who'd spend $175 on a pair of jellies, I'm sure there will be a fair few who can manage to fork out $7.80. Although whether you want to is the next question.

If you can overlook sweaty feet and stinging blisters, jellies are such the quintessential summer shoe - great for beach wearing and holiday wearing and just everyday wearing... until they are all worn down. These ones from Forever 21 benefit from a hot pink sole and an ankle strap to keep the flip-flop style planted on your foot.

Pied a Terre's 'Nifty' - wedge heeled thong sandals

peied-a-terre-nifty.jpgAh, the wedge heeled thong sandal! It pops up at around this time every year, and I have to admit to a certain fondness to it, because the low wedge allows you to have the comfort of flip flops while still giving you that little bit of extra height and arch support. These 'Nifty' wedges by Pied a Terre have a leather lining which makes them look particularly comfortable, while the silver metallic leather means you'll be able to get away with them for more than just the most casual of occasions. They also come in black and gold and are £75.
