Could these be the ultimate heeled summer sandal? They are slightly chunky, slightly gladiatorial and the straps will ensure they keep your feet firmly in the shoe. The mink colour is fast proving itself as the perfect neutral as it goes with coral, neons, white and grey tones.
They'll set you back £85 from Oli and will look great with this season's slouchy capris and gathered minis.

While I'm not particularly keen on many of Prada's recent "wavy" shoes, I'm making an exception for these ones. The blend of beige and tan would have put these in my good books anyway, but the wave design around the foot is really stunning on this shoe, turning an ordinary court into something that makes you sit up and take notice. These would be good for work, but would also work well on the weekend with some of the cream and tan safari-style fashions we've been seeing around lately. They're not cheap at $595, but they certainly look expensive, so you may well decide they're worth it.

I must be going through a Christian Louboutin fixation at the mo - every time I go looking for a non-Louboutin shoe to write about, there's another lovely Lou staring me in the face. And you know as well as I do, they're so hard to resist!
I guess that's why I'm sitting here writing about this Privatita sandal, a style of which I wrote about only last week but in the fluro green colour!
The multicolour painted python in this version is so exquisite though, I simply cannot ignore them. The bronze metallic heel and platform really add a hint of glam and ensure this is the ultimate summer shoe. They come at a price though - $1095 from Neiman Marcus.

I'm always fascinated by the way little details can make such a big difference to a shoe. These Costume National pumps, for instance, have a heel that continues up the shoe just a little higher than normal, but the effect is of a heel that looks impossibly high. It's actually 4", which, although high enough, isn't out of the ordinary. As a high heel fan, I love the skyscraper effect, and the grey/green mix is appealing, too. These are $604 at Zappos.

Black pumps can be boring, but when the black pumps in question are by Eley Kishimoto, you don't have to worry about that. These ones come in patent leather, with a round ornament on the toe and a cute little "bow tie" shaped cut on the vamp. The bright pink insole, of course, won't actually be seen when you're wearing them, but it makes them nice to look at when you're not! These would make great, unusual work shoes, and they also come in white, if you're feeling more adventurous - and have a suitable outfit to wear with a pair of white patent shoes. They're $332 at Zappos.

How adorable are these Suzie heels from Delia's? They're just like the kind of shoe you wished you had when you were playing dress up when you were 5. These canvas heels feature multi-coloured hearts printed all over the canvas fabric, while the bow and plastic trim gives them a girlish feel. Sure, you would probably not wear these shoes, but isn't it amusing to wonder how you could possibly match them with anything in your wardrobe? It would be a tough task, unless you're 5 or Japanese and willing to try quirky fashion items. How would you wear these, or would you wear them at all?

These shoes were found hiding away in the 'Mary Jane' section of Viva la Diva, but they're almost unrecognisable as Mary Janes, thanks to the sweetheart-style vamp and wide leather strap, which is covered in flower-shaped cutouts. Viva la Diva say this style reminds them of flamenco dancers: I'm not quite seeing that, but I do like the lilac coloured leather, and think that wide strap at least wouldn't cut into the top of my foot, the way some Mary Jane styles do. These are £59.99 and are also available in a lovely cream leather. Buy them here.
