Topshop really have moved into the big leage with their occasion footwear, catering to our collective lust for all things textured, tactile, bright and geometric.
'Primal' is a riot of faux-snakeskin, metallic notes and contrasts that will cook up a storm with any posh-punk outfits you might be planning to debut in coming weeks. There's a bit of caging going on here, a bit of tasseling - it's got all the right ingredients for the perfect party shoe.

The name of this shoe is 'What's Going Down?' and I'm happy to report that the one thing I can see going down here is the price!
It'll set you back a mere tenner, which I certainly thing is a bargain when I consider their likeness to the brand's 'Wafa' sandal; a shoe that saw me happily through two summers and I'd have happily replaced had they not withdrawn it this year! These too are meant for summer but will look great with thick tights in the autumn.

If you're going in for the sophisticated Chanel suit look at the moment, these very ladylike 'Jacey' peep-toe courts by Dune could just finish off your outfit nicely.
While the fabric is in danger of turning the shoes a little 'staid' there is absolutely nothing stuffy about that heel, the oversized bow or the tiny glimpse of toe cleavage they show off. Nope, this is refined and understated sexiness that will serve you well.

I tend to think of Pierre Hardy as being one of those rather 'inaccessible' brands, which of course, only adds to its allure. And I'm not only talking expense here, but more the fact that a trip to Paris is generally required to catch any of the designer's styles.
Good news then that Hardy has designed another capsule collection for Gap, which promises to be both affordable and available in a location you won't need a passport to visit. His A/W 90/10 collection, featuring sheepskin turn-over boots (£108) and many more new styles, builds on the success of previous collaborations with the chain, and coincides with Gap's rather belated decision to give UK customers the option of shopping online via ASOS. The range is available from September
These studded Mary Janes from Topshop have been on my radar for a while now as they're one many styles brought out to address demand for the "studded" look this autumn.
Personally, I wouldn't wear these shoes as I prefer to either go all-out for a trend or ignore it altogether. These sit somewhere in the middle: a slightly wussy attempt to 'get the look' without truly embracing it. In fact, they look very much like last winter's MJs to me, but minus the pom-poms. What do you think? I'm sure there'll be a huge market for this style as plenty want an on-trend look that won't be screamingly dated in a year, and nodding subtly to a look is a good way to do that. But I'm not sold.

Magenta is not a colour I tend to associate with shoes. In fact, like cyan it's one of those shades you only really expect to see in its purest form on a computer screen, but Topshop have gone all sci-fi with their choice of the colour for their daring 'Slash' gladiator platforms.
You'll certainly attract attention in these cosmic purple platforms, which do look a lot better on the feet, hence my inclusion of thier model photo above. Great choice for transition-wear too, as you could get away with wearing them tights-free on balmy summer evenings before revamping them for a more glamorous look come Autumn. £70 at Topshop

Designers are still running with the Louboutin-esque frills and interestingly arranged straps and French Connection's 'Jess' has got both down to perfection. This is a classic shape (literally) with a twist and would bring an explosion of elegance to any evening outfit.
With a 12.7cm heel these shoes are certainly on the high side, but the mini-platform supporting the super skinny heel should allow you to party away in style without fear of injury. £120 at French Connection
