Alexander McQueen sues Steve Madden over 'Faithful' bootie design

alexandermcqueen_stevemadden_faithfulbootie_sue.jpg

Alexander McQueen may have just wowed us at Paris Fashion Week, but he isn't too happy with Steve Madden. The designer has filed a lawsuit against Madden for knocking off his 'Faithful' bootie. The complaint cites Madden's 'Seryna' bootie as a "studied imitation" of McQueen's design which debuted in January.

High Street Vs. Designer: Jones and Miu Miu's lightning bolt ankle boots

lightning-bolt-boots-3.jpgMiu Miu's lightning bolt heel boots were an instant classic when they went on sale last year, and despite a brief stint at The Outnet, have now seemingly sold out everywhere.

Don't despair though, because Jones the bootmaker have brought out a style that's certainly influenced by Miu Miu's design, and it's bound to go down a storm on the high street. Priced at £95, Napier is made of suede and faux snakeskin and certainly 'gets the look', even if it lacks the crucial bolt-shaped heel of the originals. This style is certainly high up on my list for that crucial winter boot purchase, and will work well with all the season's fabrics.

£95 at Jones the Bootmaker

High street vs Designer: Topshop Vs Celine

TopshopVCeline.jpgTopshop again, but the similarities between these 'Strictly' Multi Buckle Shoes and Celine's Panton shoe boots were too much to ignore. Topshop really is the high street leader for amazing designer copies - nowhere else does it better do they?

Both black, both open toed, both strappy (with the same amount of straps no less) they're almost a dead ringer for each other! Except the Celine ones are patent leather with a cut out back, and cost a not too bad £484 (ok maybe I've been looking at designer shoes too long if I think that's 'not too bad'), and the Topshop ones are suede, with buckles instead of poppers and cost an even better £65. The Topshop version also come in Magenta if that sways your vote. Which do you prefer?

If you seek Louboutin...go to ASOS!

LouboutinVASOS.jpgRemember the gorgeous red ruffle-front 'Dillian' Louboutin pumps worn by Britney Spears in the video for 'If You Seek Amy'? Well, I have no idea how I missed these, but it seems ASOS did a pretty good copy! It was probably a good thing I did miss them though, since they're now on sale! Okay, so they aren't exactly the same..they don't have the nice chunky platform toe, and they only come in this silver colour, but meh, lets not nitpick

If you like them they're £32 down from £45 at ASOS, a mere snip compared to the $1695 tag attached to the originals.

Not-so-casual Friday: Topshop channel Louis Vuitton AGAIN

TopshopLeviTribal.jpgTopshop really aren't letting the Louis Vuitton 'Spicy' sandal love die, are they? The high street really make the most of a trend before we get bored of it - which is good for us because then we get lots of nice designer-alike shoes!

With the same coloured snakeskin (effect) and beads, the 'Levi' Strippy Tribal Sandal, bears more then a passing resemblance to the 'Primal' voodoo sandals - and the 'Fatal' Beaded Sandals after that - originally inspired by the 'Spicy'.

Are you keeping up? Good.

Made from leather, these come in two colourways; this rather nice black and purple, and red. If you want, they're £70.

Carvela patent strap wooden platform shoes

carvela_patent_wooden_platforms.jpg

There's something very Marni-esque about these patent strap platforms by Carvela - and of course, when I say that, I mean for that to be a Very Good Thing (you only have to look at Camille's Marni wedges on Childhood Flames to see what I'm talking about).

Supremely versatile for the warmer months, you'll be able to wear them with everything from slouchy sweats a la Camille, to your dressier moments in a summer frock and everything in between (namely jeans). They're also a darn sight cheaper than a Marni version - especially right now, as they're on sale for £66 at ASOS!

Topshops still channeling Louis Vuitton

topshop-fatal.jpgStill using Louis Vuittons' 'Spicy' heels as 'inspiration', Topshop have just released these flat Fatal Beaded Sandals just in time for summer *stubbornly ignores rain pounding on windows*. Still incorporating the safari-style colours and materials like feathers and beads, this altogether more wearable version is £40 and available in turquoise, green and off-white. [Steph Powell]
