High Street V. Designer: Dorothy Perkins do Gucci

dorothygucci.jpg

I think it's pretty obvious which is the designer shoe and which is the high street offering in the above photo, but just in case it isn't, on the right we have Dorothy Perkins' black patent shoe boots (£25), while on the left it's Gucci's 'Newton' boots ($850), which we featured back in January. You'll notice just a few similarities between the two pairs, but Dorothy Perkins are certainly the winner when it comes to price, with their offerings coming in at just a fraction of the price of the Gucci originals.

Designer V. High Street: French Sole and Giuseppe Zanotti add flowers to thong sandals

722584_fpx.jpg

I'm not sure I'd quite describe French Sole as a "high street" brand, but their 'Serenity' flower sandals, shown on the left of this picture, are certainly cheaper than Giuseppe Zanotti's metallic thongs on the right, even although the styles are similar. The French Sole sandals cost $198 to Zanotti's $595, but which pair would you prefer - if either?

FlyJane's two-toned platform slingbacks - "inspired" by Christian Louboutin's 'Fox Trot'

louboutin-flyjane.jpg

Red sole? Check. Black patent? Check? Slingback? Check? Metallic platform and heel? Check. Yup, FlyJane's version of Christian Louboutin's 'Fox Trot' looks very much like the original: it's the shoe on the right of this picture, while the Louboutins are on the left. The price, of course, is very different - FlyJane are selling these for $42.90, as compared to Christian Louboutin's rather more hefty $710. Can you spot the difference?

Steve Madden does it again with these Christian Louboutin-style patent booties

Bootleg%2520booties.jpg

Oh, Steve Madden, have you no sense of shame! As our US site, Shiny Style, points out, the red heel is a dead giveaway on the Louboutin version of this boot, but it's just about the only thing that sets it apart from Steve Madden's almost-identical design! The Louboutins are the 'Miss Fred Taco Boots', and are $695 at Saks, while Madden has called his boots 'Becks' and is charging $149.95 for them. Do you think you could tell the difference, though, if it wasn't for that red heel?

Move over Miu Miu - ASOS jump on the "pleat front shoe" bandwagon

asos-miu-miu.jpg OK, so they're plain black rather than a patchwork of colour, and they're not quite in the same league as their designer counterparts, but no prizes for guessing where ASOS found inspiration for these pleated court shoes - that high front detail was all over Miu Miu's last collection! Not all of us can afford a pair of Miu Miu's Spectator pumps, though, so if you'd like to try out the style, these court shoes could be a good alternative. They're just £40, and come in a patent/leather mix.

Dorothy Perkins channel Miu Miu with their grey suede platform shoes

dorothy-perkins-miu-miu.jpg Miu Miu did shoes like this last season, but every other shoe designer worth their salt seems to be making them for this season, with a proliferation of cap-toed shoes flooding the high street. Dorothy Perkins are the latest retailer to hop aboard the bandwagon, with these grey and blue platform court shoes which are also available in black and tan - there's even a gold and black ankle-strap version, if you're a real fan of the cap-toe look. At just £30, these are an easy way to try out the trend, and the blue and grey colours make them the height of fashion this winter too.

Get the Marc Jacobs look for less at Barratt’s

barrattsvsjacobs.jpg
Barratts have been producing some beautiful shoes of late, and now it seems that they're in the business of designer-inspired styles too! More than a little reminiscent of Marc Jacob's studded denim heels (right), these 'Miro' peep-toes share everything down to the zipper detail. On the upside, the teal base is perhaps a little more versatile than the denim MJ style, and the lower, more utilitarian heel means that they're quite work-compatible. Also available in Barbie pink and biker black, they're available for £25 from Barratts.
