We thought we'd try something a little different for this week's Mary Jane pick - and that something different is the shoes! Fruit embellishments have been seen all over the costume jewellery scene for what seems forever now, so it makes sense that shoes should eventually get a look in too! These low-heeled babies are certainly leaning towards kitsch, but not overly, if you prefer your stylings a little more demure. The bright red scalloped edging adds interest without looking tacky, though at £55 from Office, I suspect that you will have to really like them to invest!

The brogue-esqe, two-tone trend looks set to carry well into spring and summer this year, so why not take advantage of a pair in our very favourite style - the Mary Jane! Showing off a towering stiletto, the white patent perforated overlay really pops out against the patent black background. A seriously sexy office shoe or a real beauty for your Friday night on the town, 'Mori' is $110 from BCBGirls.

Looking a little brogueish, these Mary Janes set one's heart a-flutter with their perfect floral cut-out details; and while the very sturdy heel is a little at odds with the feminine design, it certainly doesn't ruin the style. A great one for work, if you can handle the height, they're Luichiny and will set you back $69.99 from Heels.com.

We first saw this fabulous graphic print on Eley Kishimoto's S/S08 catwalks waaaay back in September and happily it's now hit the stores! In a more enticing package than the low-heeled courts, these Mary Janes are seriously sexy. An incredibly flattering shape (see the model pics for proof!), they're a definitive statement shoe. Pair with white if you're feeling mod, or black if you want all eyes on your feet, they're an investment £160 from ASOS.

I’ve not been all that fond of the coloured-toe panel that's been dotting around the high street, but when the colouration is the same as the rest of the shoe, as it is on these MJs, it’s much more palatable! The woven leather detailing and chunky buckle of this style make these Mary Janes more edgy-big-sister than sweet, which is probably why they've been called 'Rebel'. Wear 'em rock-chic-esque with dark denim skinnies and a leather jacket or go butter-wouldn't-melt with spring florals; they're £75 from Dune.

These gorgeous Mary Janes are more than a little reminiscent of the flower cut-out Mary Janes we saw at Monsoon well over a year ago, but the passage of time has not made this design less lovely. This time in a lilac shade and with a plain squared toe, they're a year-round winner. Wear for work or play, they're by Schuh and are £59.99 at Viva La Diva.

To say that our relationship with Marc Jacobs in 2007 was rocky could well be the understatement of the century, but with some of his recent designs, things seem to be on the up! Today's Mary Janes feature the same celtic knot embellishment as his gorgeous peep-toes, though I must say that these use the detailing to even greater effect! With a simple shape and an unusual MJ strap, these won't be for everyone; but for those of you who dare, they're $488.95 from Zappos Couture.
