These shoes are rather pushing the boundaries of the term "Mary Jane", because they're a mix of a few different styles, with platform soles, and a double ankle-strap, on top of that triple Mary Jane style strap! Add to this a vivid orange strap, and what you end up with is a shoe that may not be the most versatile one in your wardrobe, but which is definitely a lot of fun. I'd wear these with darker colours, like black or grey skinny jeans/dresses, but if you prefer to stand out, you could always try them with something that will clash!

I have some serious beef with Matalan at the moment: they started selling some of their clothes online last month, but ... not their shoes. Which means that if I want to get myself a pair of these "mega platforms", I'm going to have to actually leave the comfort of my computer chair and head down there. Ah well, these are only £10, so the bargain may just be worth the journey. Despite being described as "mega platforms" on the Matalan website, I think it's the heel rather than the sole which is "mega" in this case, but that's fine by me, because that's the way I like 'em!

Granted T.U.K's giant dolly shoes aren't to everybody's tastes, but if you're an alternative dresser with a darkly whimsical style, and are willing to tolerate pointing and laughing from children in the street, I don't see how these chunky-soled MJs-from-hell can fail to raise a smile.
T.U.K are a bit of an anti-fashion brand on the whole, but in this case you can have your cake and eat it, as the shoes are festooned with bows.

This is the second pair of Arden B shoes I've featured this week, and clearly I need to visit their website more often, because I love the combination of suede and patent on these Mary Jane heels. It helps to create a very "wintry" look, and the red and grey colours are the perfect compliment for each other. Wear with matching grey tights - or, indeed, a matching red, if you can find the right colour! These are $98.

Well, it doesn't get much shinier than this, does it? J Crew have described these as "Mary Janes", but they look like plain old ankle straps to me - although I guess "plain" isn't reallt the right word for a shoe so shiny you could almost see your face it it, really! Personally, as much as I love metallics, I prefer them a little more muted than this, so while the pewter colour that's also available is almost perfect, I'd probably avoid the Christmas-wrapping-paper-like gold versions. You, meanwhile, can view all three of the available colours over at J Crew, where these are $160.

I know it's been done by lots of people, but I just can't help it: every time I see gold-tipped heels like these ones from Delia's, I think, "Chloe" and I think "2006". (Or was it 2005?) A lot of time has elapsed since Chloe sent this look down the catwalk, of course, and I don't think there's even the slightest danger of these shoes being mistaken for designer (well, they are only $44.50), but if you liked the look when it first came out and have been coveting it ever since, these could be a good buy for you, especially taking into account the budget price.

If you're still scouting for a pair of shoes for Christmas parties, then chances are you still haven't done your Christmas shopping yet and a turkey and tree probably aren't sitting pretty in your home either. If this is you, how about giving the whole Chrimbo thing a miss this year and instead focus on finding a great pair of killer heels to wear this New Years Eve?
And hey, you don't even have to keep looking because I have found them for you right here. Rupert Sanderson's Zircon pumps are stunning to look at, with their metallic gold leather upper and black mesh overlay. You will want to dance long past midnight in these delicious Mary Janes. They're £450 from Net-a-Porter.
