'Nora' gold-tipped Mary Jane heels from Delia's

norah-mjs.jpgI know it's been done by lots of people, but I just can't help it: every time I see gold-tipped heels like these ones from Delia's, I think, "Chloe" and I think "2006". (Or was it 2005?) A lot of time has elapsed since Chloe sent this look down the catwalk, of course, and I don't think there's even the slightest danger of these shoes being mistaken for designer (well, they are only $44.50), but if you liked the look when it first came out and have been coveting it ever since, these could be a good buy for you, especially taking into account the budget price.

Rupert Sanderson's 'Zircon' gold pumps

rupertsanderson_zircon.jpg

If you're still scouting for a pair of shoes for Christmas parties, then chances are you still haven't done your Christmas shopping yet and a turkey and tree probably aren't sitting pretty in your home either. If this is you, how about giving the whole Chrimbo thing a miss this year and instead focus on finding a great pair of killer heels to wear this New Years Eve?

And hey, you don't even have to keep looking because I have found them for you right here. Rupert Sanderson's Zircon pumps are stunning to look at, with their metallic gold leather upper and black mesh overlay. You will want to dance long past midnight in these delicious Mary Janes. They're £450 from Net-a-Porter.

Davis by Ruthie Davis 'Necco' Mary Jane pumps

ruthie_davis_pijnk.jpgFor something in such a sugary-sweet shade of pink, these Ruthie Davis Mary Janes sure pack a bit of a punch, thanks to those sharp little spikes decorating the strap. Clearly the idea here is to give a "butter wouldn't melt" style some edge, but I'm not sure it quite works, for me - that colour is a little bit too "bubblegum" to be toughened up with a few spikes, I think! Still, it's definitely one way to take the Mary Jane away from the "little girl" image it can sometimes have, and if you're all for it, you can buy these from Shopbop for $645.

Christian Louboutin red platform slingback Mary Janes

mary-jane-louboytin-red.jpgYou wouldn't think there were many things you could do to a red Mary Jane to make it more interesting, but I still think these ones by Christian Louboutin are among the nicest Mary Janes I've seen this year - and I say that as someone who doesn't normally even like slingbacks.

The bright red colour helps, of course, but so does the cute little button, while the covered platform and high heels add to the appeal of these shoes. There's always something just a little bit cartoonish about red Mary Janes, but I mean that in the nicest possible way, and think these ones would add a touch of fun to anything to wore them with. They're $895 from Neiman Marcus.

Mary Jane Monday: Grey double-strap Mary Janes from Forever 21

f21-mary-janes.jpgI thought we'd go for a budget option for today's Mary Jane Monday column, just in case the Christmas shopping is forcing you to reign back on your shoe spending a little. These grey double-strap Mary Janes are from Forever 21, and while they're never going to be the best-made shoes in your collection, the fact that they're only $19.80, and in a style you're bound to get lots of wear out of before they finally fall apart, may just make up for that. They're also available in black, and you can buy a pair here.

Mary Jane Monday: Red patent leather 'Kindlepa' pumps by Jimmy Choo

red-patent-choos.jpgRed patent Mary Janes by Jimmy Choo. To be perfectly honest, there's not really a whole lot to say about them, other than that they're beautiful, and as far as Mary Janes go, I think these are some of the nicest. Gotta love that red patent upper!

Of course, being Jimmy Choos, they're not cheap: they do, however, have 20% off at Bluefly, making them $492.
