'Fun' looking shoes with crazy and elaborate colour schemes are becoming far more mainstream and Kron is a label that goes all out to create truly unique footwear.
These rattan, leather and suede heels manage to be totally on trend with their black and red colour scheme, their Chanel-inspired quilted upper and exposed platform, while maintaining a character and charm that's entirely their own.

We were all hugely impressed by Moda in Pelle's shift in design focus to a more fashion forward and classy range this autumn, so I was excited to find out what the label would be doing next.
And this week, I've been given a bit of insight, as Moda in Pelle have sent me a few preview pics of their forthcoming s/s 10 range, which includes the hot zebra sandals pictured above. I can really imagine strolling around in these open-sided shoes, chilling out in a hot city street somewhere come summer. The exposed platform is still going to be huge, and these shoes really make the most of the style.

Also in the s/s range are these neutral 'Ridinah' sandals, which are both elegant and sturdy at once. I love the way the leather has been cut around the toe, with a delicate, almost lazer-like precision (perhaps they are lazer cut?) that suggests real quality. These would be a perfect companion to all those pale-coloured clothes we so often buy during the summer months, then completely annihilate with our dark-coloured shoes. They'd also be great for summer weddings.
A promising glimpse into Moda's latest range, we look forward to seeing more!

Thank god for bloggers! Jak & Jil (one of my favourites) has posted a preview of the Nicholas Kirkwood Spring/Summer 2010 collection. These brightly coloured pop art style booties are pure shoe eye candy. In vivd colours including hot red, green and blue, they are flecked in white and gold, and feature Kirkwood's signature protruding platform. I also hear that he has flats planned for next S/S season. So... what do you make of this sneak peek? Tell us below.

If you've been dying to try out the FitFlop theory of dynamic leg-shaping for years but are enough of a shoe snob to be put of by the slightly grannyish look of the label's classic sandals, here's a new range that may persuade you to think again.
Anna Sui has designed a pair of limited edition moccasin boots for FitFlops, which are built on the same design principles as the original flipflops. with a smattering of studs, a taste of tassel and a warm and wooly interior, they're everything you need for comfortable and stylish locomotion this winter. Great news for Fitflop addicts who usually miss the leg-toning technology for at least half of the year!

I'm still reeling from having seen Louis Vuitton's perculiar accessories last week, but have had to conclude that the shoes in the label's spring/summer 2010 catwalk show are perhaps even odder.
Sprouting whisps of fur, fleece and what looks a bit like santa's beard, the footwear on show here would have been confusing enough without the addition of fluffy appendages. There's a pared-down orthopedic look going on, alongside acid-bright fabrics, rough-cut edging and metalwork that looks more suited to upholstery than footwear. I think the only things I do like about this range are the interestingly tiny heels and the bold use of colour; it's otherwise a fusion of hardware and hippy that does odd things to my head.

New Look's main selling point has always been its highly affordable versions of current trends, but a new line of shoes from the chain now promises something a bit less predictable.
The 'Idol' range, from Shoreditch designer Donovan Pascal is aimed at women who are more interested in individual style and don't want to follow the herd. The first collection takes inspiration from classic rock icons like Debbie Harry, and has a less manufactured look than other high-street ranges. What do you think of these new styles from Balenciaga? The obsession with geometric styling is still in evidence, but 'plasticky' toy-tone notes have been replaced with a more hand-woven vibe, with a big emphasis on soft textiles. That's quite a departure for the label that brought us hard-edged 'Lego' shoes, but it'll certainly fit in nicely with the folksy vibe that's coming through stronger than ever in next season's look books.
Once again, our old friend the 'pinched' cone heel is making an appearance. Having been seen most notably on Louis Vuitton's thigh-length ribbon boots, the look is already filtering on to the high street: these sandals from New Look also have the round-bottomed heel.
