Baby blue Mary Janes by Marni - A/W 08

marbinaryjanes.jpgBaby blue is a colour I for one tend to associate with Spring, rather than with the Autumn/Winter season, but Marni clearly disagree, as this patent Mary Jane was part of their latest collection at Milan Fashion Week last week. The thick leather strap contrasts with the shiny blue shoe, and these were worn with thick blue and white striped tights, which created a bit of an 'Alice in Wonderland' feel. Not particularly wintry, but at least they make a change from the usual cold weather collections.

Milan Fashion Week Shoes: Gucci A/W 08

guccimilan.jpg

Anyone fancy some fringes? These boots were all part of Gucci's A/W 08 catwalk show in Milan this week. Fringes were added to both over the knee and ankle style boots, with the studded peep toes adding a bit of a rockier edge. I've always thought fringes were something of a "love 'em or loathe 'em" feature, both in clothes and on accessories, so what's it to be with you? Will you be rushing to buy Gucci's fringed boots next winter, or will you be leaving them on the shelf?

Milan Fashion Week shoes: Sheer tights with strappy sandals at Missoni

burberry-tights.jpg

Tights with sandals has long been denounced as one of the great fashion faux pas of our time, but the recent trend for sheer tights seems to be putting an end to that. These rather lovely strappy sandals, for instance, were worn with sheer tights on Missoni's catwalk this week at Milan Fashion Week, and Missoni haven't been the only designers recently to pair sheer tights and sandals in this way. The tights in question in these pictures are lacking the reinforced toe which I think makes the combination look bad, but I'm not sure how long I'd be able to wear them without sticking my toe right through the front - not a great look!

Would you/do you wear sheer tights with sandals, or is it still a "no-no"?

Prada shoes at Milan Fashion Week - A/W 08

pradaaw08.jpg

Of all the shoes in all the shows we've seen so far in the current round of Fashion Weeks, I think Prada win the prize for "most original", don't you? Whether or not you'll actually like them, of course, is another matter altogether, but Miuccia Prada has been getting progressively more experimental with shoes lately (with very mixed results, it has to be said), with this show containing some of their most eye-catching styles to date. I absolutely love looking at these shoes, but wearing them? Probably not. I'm really curious what everyone else makes of them, though, so tell me - what's your take on Prada's Autumn/Winter 08 shoes?

Lela Rose for Payless - latest collection at New York Fashion Week

Shoes%2520collage-thumb.jpg

Fans of Lela Rose's shoe collections for Payless got a sneak preview of what's in store for Autumn/Winter 08 - the designer's 5th collection for the retailer - at New York Fashion Week. As reported over at our sister site, Shiny Style, these shoes will be available in-store from August, and will cost less than $45. From the New York show, it seems that the collection will be made up of classic court shoes in versatile red and black, some of which have a cute bow detail on the ankle, which I love. Those who attended the show were also given tote bags reading "I heart shoes" - well, don't we all?

London Fashion Week Shoes: Marios Schwab A/W 08

More super-high stilettos at London Fashion Week. These ones use square toes rather than the more usual almond/pointed toes, and are by Marios Schwab. If you look closely, you'll see that there's also a metallic, serrated edge on the front of the toe, which gives the shoe a slightly "fierce" look (Well, it makes me think of teeth, anyway!). Add an ankle strap and pair with sheer, skintight fabrics in nude colours, and you have the complete "Schwab" look. We'll let you off with the skintight column dresses if you absolutely insist...

Betsey Johnson Fall 2008 shoes - platforms and pinks!

Betsey%2520Accessories%2520collage-thumb.jpg

Our fellow fashion bloggers over at our US site, Shiny Style, have been busy covering the collections from New York Fashion Week, and put together this collage of images from the Betsey Johnson show, which demonstrates that the trend for high, platform shoes will still be going strong next winter! Of course, Betsey Johnson has always been a fan of very bold, bright colours, but at the moment the rest of the fashion world seems to be pretty much in step with her. What do you think of the trend for huge heels and platforms?
