It's all very well wanting to look after your glorious shoe investments but Harrods seem to have taken this idea to extremes with their confounding decision to borrow a snake to guard a pair of designer lovelies.
The poisonous cobra has been placed in a case to guard a pair of jewel encrusted sandals weighing in at a whopping £60,000. The highly aggressive and deadly snake, called Cedric, was hired to guard a pair of Rene Caovilla sandals encrusted with rubies, sapphires and diamonds. But as it turns out, it may just have been a sly photo op, as Cedric (deadly name that, huh?) has been returned home safe and sound.

Nanette Lepore is the latest designer to pair up with an unexpected partner for a line of lower-priced shoes. So if you like Mischa Barton's sporty chic style but prefer more of a designer aesthetic, try these "ballerina sneakers.

My theory for big designer sales is to find something classic you can wear always but can't always afford. This mid-heel pointy-toe Jimmy Choo for instance, down to US$373 in the First Cut Designer Sale at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Cheeky in cherry red, these pumps may be a bit too sweet for some, but they are only US$104 in the Piperlime Sweet Deal Event. With an adorable bow on the almond toe and a platform that pumps it up to 4-1/2" the Boutique 58 Network Patents are hard to resist. They also come in black, but c'mon, don't you have enough black heels? Be radiant in red, ravishing in rouge...er, the sugar rush has gone to our heads.
