It looks like Amanda Seyfried is on her way to big things. Starring alongside illustrious names like Meryl Streep and Colin Firth, in the film version of Mamma Mia, she seems a long way from playing the "weather girl" next to Lindsay Lohan in teen classic Mean Girls.
And if her fashion choices on the red carpet are anything to go by, she will be the A-list starlet yet. We love her subtle makeup choice, gorgeous emerald dress and those suede Miu Miu sandals are to-die-for. You can pick them up at Net-a-Porter for £250.
Who said flat shoes can't grab the attention? Certainly not the designers of these bright and funky, banana-yellow flats by Miss Sixty.
The leather loops on the front of the shoe give them a particularly summery touch that's reminiscent of big, clanking beads and bangles, and I like the way the straps run all around the leg with their little pendant fastening. Great for people who'd rather wear their jewellery on the feet! These would look great with a denim ensemble and would definitely hold their own on the beach. £37.99.

Simplicity is the key here with these snakeskin effect flat sandals. The delicate t-bar and ankle strap means they are smart enough to wear with a pretty dress out to dinner on a nice balmy evening, but are can also be dressed down for a picnic in the park or barbeque.
Make sure those tootsies are in ship-shape condition (a bit of toenail polish and a heel scrub are a good place to start) as with these sandals, there will be nowhere for them to hide! They're £12 from ASOS.

My-Wardrobe's sale is still going with items reduced by up to 80%, and there are some real bargains to be had. I've picked my three favourite shoes from the sale, and they're all great chunky summer sandals. Team the middle pair with a maxidress to give it a bit of chic, while the other two would look great with some mannish trousers or some cutoff jeans. See after the jump for product links.

I can almost hear the cries of 'bor-ring' bouncing back at me off the screen, but these two-tone wedge sandals by Lotus are the sort of easy summer shoes I can see myself developing an unhealthy attachment to.
Their basic shape is a tried and tested slip-on style, but 2008 has stamped its mark all over them, with the two-tone crossover straps and their hippyish blush finish. These would look adorable with a floaty, feminine skirt while the buff-coloured leather works wonders for your tan. They're also a steal at £29.95

Wooden wedges are so ubiquitous these days that it's unusual to find a pair that stands out.
This pair by Fornarina, however (yes, I'm still on a floral kick) have got the balance between form and functionality just right, with a pretty, Cath Kidston-eque print that's delicate yet bold enough not to be overpowered by the wedge -- unlike some of the ugly rope-wedge shoes around at the moment that totally dominate the rest of the shoe. They're good value too at £32 at Yoox.

Of all of the sandals in this particular style that are around at the moment, I think these ones from River Island may just be the best value for money. The uppers are real leather (although the sole isn't real wood - it's plastic) and they have a satisfyingly expensive look about them, which makes the £39.99 price tag a pleasant surprise.
I'd wear these, Carrie Bradshaw-style, with a selection of floaty little summer dresses, with the shoes helping to balance out the frills or flowers. Get them at RiverIsland.com.
