Zigi Platform Peep Toe by London Rebel

UrbanOutfitterZigiPlatform.jpgI'm in a bit of a sick haze today, and the medicine I've taken is making me a bit spacey. As I dragged my eyes across websites trying to find something post-worthy, these hefty shoes caught my attention and launched me into a fantasy of using them to toughen up a floaty summer dress, and strutting down a sunshine filled street.

If only drug-induced dreams weren't the only place to get some sun. Leather with a snakeskin print and cross over straps, the Zigi Platform Peep Toe heels by London Rebel are available from Urban Outfitters for £85.

Evans brown toe post sandals

evans_brown_toe_post_flipflops.jpg

Okay, so while I'm madly on the hunt for a new pair of gladiator sandals to get my feet in the mood to really kick off summer, I'm well aware that many of you will be sick of the sight of them and will be wanting some other chic alternatives.

These brown toe post sandals really caught my eye because they deliver just that - they're not gladiators, but they still look fashionable and, most importantly, pretty darn good. The jewel detailing means they will sparkle and glitter in the sun, but the neutral tan colour means they're not overtly blingin'. Just perfect. They're a very reasonable £25 from Evans.

Metal detecting sandals for beachy hi-jinx

metal_detecting_sandals.jpg

Shiny Shiny's Zara Rabinowicz writes...

Whilst these shoes are no Havaianas, they do serve an Indiana Jones-esque purpose of allowing you to discover buried trash dirty cans treasure as you pad along the beach. Cleverly hidden in the right sandal is a copper coil, which attaches to a battery pack strapped to your right leg. The ring creates a magnetic field around the sole of the shoe, and when you pass over something metallic (within a 2 foot radius) the field is disrupted and the battery pack vibrates and flashes red.

Now you can go dig up whatever exciting thing is underfoot - making you the Nancy Drew of beach trash/lost wedding rings. They work off a 9 volt battery, and are sure to look...er, extremely stylish (?!) when teamed with that itsy bitsy bikini. They're $59.99 from Hammacher Schlemmer.

Carvela patent strap wooden platform shoes

carvela_patent_wooden_platforms.jpg

There's something very Marni-esque about these patent strap platforms by Carvela - and of course, when I say that, I mean for that to be a Very Good Thing (you only have to look at Camille's Marni wedges on Childhood Flames to see what I'm talking about).

Supremely versatile for the warmer months, you'll be able to wear them with everything from slouchy sweats a la Camille, to your dressier moments in a summer frock and everything in between (namely jeans). They're also a darn sight cheaper than a Marni version - especially right now, as they're on sale for £66 at ASOS!

Bargain Tuesday: Office Rivers Deep for £20

office-cheap-shoes.jpgThese tall sandals by Office were £55 not so very long ago, but both the black and silver styles have just been reduced to £20 making them an excellent summer bargain, especially with so much of the season still left to go!

I've picked out both shades here as I think the two styles would work well for different occasions; the black being ideal for daytime wear with floaty skirts, capri pants or shorts. The silver will bring a bit of extra glam to your wardrobe that will translate well into eveningwear. The cork-soled look is still very much in, so grab this bargain while it's there in store or online.

Pierre Hardy gold rope gladiator heels

pierre_hardy_gold_rope_heels.jpg

Nautical and metallics. Two trends which keep coming into the fold time and time again... but usually separately. Famous shoe designer Pierre Hardy has decided to go against the grain with this one and combine the two trends to create these gold rope gladiator heels.

We imagine they'd look right at home on the bronzed feet of a superyacht-lounging glamazon, but they could also look really rather pretty on the rest of us this summer too. Wear with crisp beige dress shorts and a loose, white blouse to give off a relaxed yet smart summer vibe. They're £590 from Start Boutique.

Fendi Raffia strappy platform heels

fendi_raffia_heels.jpg

We're seeing an uprising of all-over cork shoes at the moment, but for those who don't want that squeaky polystyrene feeling (ugh) on their feet but still want a light and summery material, then raffia could be the alternative.

These raffia platforms by Fendi are just what the doctor ordered really - a chic and seasonal shoe which will look great with some ankle skimming white skinny jeans or a floral tea dress. When it comes to Team Cork vs Team Raffia, we are Raffia all the way! You can find them at Browns for £365.
