The designer takes over the reins from Edmundo Castillo, who recently presented his final collection at the spring/summer '09 shows. Russo will now be in charge of women's and men's footwear, handbags and accessories.
Of their new recruit, the brand's president and chief executive officer, Didier Bonnin said that he was "certain that, with his experience and talent, Francesco Russo will enhance the essence of the brand in all its product categories and will contribute to grow [its] success."
For those of you over in the States you have probably heard that Sigerson Morrison has created a line for Target. But me, I'm only just hip to the fact that once again, you guys will get to experience the luxury of designer shoes at a fraction of the cost. Jealous me? Never.

One of Shoewawa's favourite shoe designers Jonathan Kelsey, has created a limited edition £50,000 shoe... yes, really. Don't believe me? Then check out this video above that he recently made for Grazia at Paris Fashion Week. The luxe shoe is made from crocodile, and features 18 carat gold and 16 carat diamond embellishment. Wowzers! Like any of us could afford such extravagance but if you happen to be one of the very fortunate few, then they are available now at David Morris boutiques.
It was about this time last year that we featured the Stiletto Phone, and so it appears that the concept has come around again in the form of the High Heel Phone.

Under the notion that time is running out and that very soon we will all have to make do with our own DIY skills, Vivienne Westwood unveiled her S/S '09 collection. Mixing and matching designer with charity shop ideas, Westwood incorporated all manner of materials right down to her footwear. From a reinvented version of her famous pirate boot, to old-man brown strappy sandals, the British designer had a plethora of ideas to beat the credit crunch. Indeed, with the current economic climate, she might just be onto something. Click here to see CQ's full show report.
Another sportswear/designer collaboration has hit the mainstream with Sergio Rossi teaming up with Puma on a capsule footwear collection.
Puma's legendary 'Clyde' sneaker has been updated with a modern, and dare I say it, unusual twist. Harking back to those girl group days, the collaboration has produced a range of sneaker-heels, with two versions to choose from.
Keep your eyes peeled as they hit Sergio Rossi and Puma stores over the coming months, as well as at Colette where they will be exclusively stocked.
