The weekend marked the opening of the brand new Office boutique at Spitalfields. Situated opposite Old Spitalfields Market on Commercial Street, the retailer is the latest brand to open in the area.
"It brings in a consumer which fits ideally with Office's direction and ethos. It is a unique destination - and will be showcasing all our top end shoes and brands," said Office's merchandising director.
If you can't make it to the new Office Spitalfields store, then check out the latest collection online. Like these purple nubuck 'Look At Me Now' peep-toe platforms, also available in beige snake and black lizard, priced at £85.

Those brilliant inventions out of Brazil known as Havaianas (trust me I'm Aussie, they're a Godsend) are taking on the world - literally. This latest spring '09 campaign from the flip-flop makers is genius. Shot on location in Paris, Madrid, Rome and London, thousands pairs of 'Havs' have taken up cemetery-style in front of the world's biggest landmarks. Brill!

To our dear US readers - it is *almost* time to rejoice! For the highly-awaited Topshop USA flagship store in New York is about to open its doors. On the eve of the official launch, photos from inside the new store located at 478 Broadway in Manhattan, have been released via WWD. Amongst all 'top' things it offers, the Shoe Lounge which mirrors the one at Topshop's Oxford Street store, has to be up there. It's situated on the third floor and is apparently "filled with colourful platforms with metallic embellishments and plenty of height." Just one more reason to get excited!

First accessories, then maternity wear and now shoes. Nicole Richie has taken the next step up in world of celebrity fashion design by signing a footwear deal with Modern Vintage.
The pregnant TV star will début 20 shoe styles under her label, House of Harlow, set to launch in spring 2010. The line will also include "a small assortment of apparel, bags, sunglasses, belts and other small accessories."
"Nicole is designing everything herself. She's totally devoted to this, and we're creating a whole lifestyle around her aesthetic and what is true to her," said manufacturer, Rick Cytrynbaum.
No prices have been set, but the line will be available throughout select department and independent stores. Cytrynbaum didn't rule out the possibility of expanding the line.

Michelle Obama's favourite designer, Jason Wu, is aiming downwards - at our feet, that is.
The designer, who has shot to fame thanks in part to Mrs O, is currently in London where he revealed that he has plans to launch a shoe range (as well as cosmetics) this year.
However, it seems that he is keeping a lid on who he plans to collaborate with, despite hinting that it wouldn't be Manolo Blahnik, who created shoes for his autumn/winter '09 collection. I wonder if Mrs O will be top of his waiting list?

Danish-born fashion designer, Peter Jensen, has revealed that a protest was staged in response to his fall '09 collection, which was recently shown at London Fashion Week. The issue is concerning his white thigh-high floral kamik boots (pictured, left) which were tribute to his aunt Jytte, a native of Greenland. Instead they have caused offence the people of Greenland, because they form part of the country's national costume.
"Here at Peter Jensen we are shocked and outraged that our loving tribute to their kamik boots could be construed as in any way exploitative," the designer said in a statement. "The collection and the boots were made out of pure love and meant as a celebration from the trip which we went on in November. That I am now getting death threats is really taking this thing out of proportion."

To promote his latest shoe collection, Brian Atwood took an different approach by recruiting an older Hollywood actress to star in her own sexed up limited release book. Rene Russo was his choice to be photographed by Tony Duran for the footwear-festish style book titled, Role Play Rene. It features the actress sticking her stiletto heel into the bare bottom of a male model, amongst other saucy things. Only 1,000 of the books have been printed, and I must say that it's great to see Atwood choosing a more mature actress, instead of going down the usual young starlet route. At 55-years-old, Rene is still smokin'! [via The Cut]
