Not-So-Casual Friday, Take 2: Satin jewel sandals by Bourne

bourne-sandals.jpgI couldn't decide whether to make these shoes or the Gina courts featured earlier today our Not-So-Casual Friday shoe, so I decided to be generous and show you them both. Well, it is Friday after all...

For some reason, I keep thinking "bridesmaid" when I look at these shoes, although, in truth, they may be a little too "blingy" for that. These will be suitable for only the most dressed-up of occasions: you know, those times when you absolutely have to wear jewels on your feet. I'm thinking any black tie event would be a candidate, but you can decide for yourself what you think they'd work for, if anything. They're £116 and you'll find them at Viva la Diva.

Thomas Burberry teams up with SoleTrader

thomasburberry_soletrader.jpgThomas Burberry is once again teaming up with SoleTrader, following the success of its menswear collaboration. This time they have decided to take their winning formula into women's footwear for next season.

Two exclusive designs have been created for autumn/winter 2008-9, including a brown knee boot (£100) and black quilted ankle boot (£90). Each style features a chunky biker-style heel, round toe, gold hardware and name-plate, to reflect Thomas Burberry's mainline collection.

Keep your eyes peeled, as they will be available from next month.

Balenciaga black suede pump with gold piping

balenciaga_pumps.jpg

It's not often you come across a hot pair of Balenciaga shoes with a (fairly) realistic price, but here they are... behold: Balenciaga's black suede pumps with gold piping.

I love how they are simplistic and timeless, yet the curve of the heel and the low-cut of the toe give off a very "now" and cutting-edge look about them. I'd almost go as far as to say they are The Shoe we have all been looking for - and at £340 (from Matches), it doesn't even matter if they turn out not to be!

Not-So-Casual Friday: Gina's crystal heeled court shoes

gina-crystal-heels.jpgNot just a crystal heel, but a crystal platform, too! Gina's black patent court shoes are anything but "casual" but they could also be a good buy for anyone who secretly wants to add some sparkle to their life (or shoes) but doesn't want to go for the all-over glitter we see so much off.

These are £475 at Browns, and will be the perfect partners to every little black dress. Or coloured dress. Or trousers. Or.... oh, you know. Get them here.

Paris Hilton's pewter 'Chico' pumps

6627-688906-3.jpgI know, I know - I can't quite believe I'm showing you another pair of Paris Hilton shoes either. These are fast becoming a guilty pleasure of mine: I have the feeling I shouldn't really like them, but then, again and again recently, I keep finding that .. I do. And I particularly like these pewter 'Chico' pumps, which have a killer high heel and a "disco inspired upper", whatever that means. In gold, they're super-shiny and, dare I say it, a little on the tacky side, but in this colour I think they're restrained enough to get away with, and the price is good too, at $83.

OK, Paris, you win this round. I like your shoes: or at least, I like these ones. If you like them too, readers, you can get them at Zappos.

Chloe's blue suede ankle boots with crocodiile trim

chloe_ankle_boots.jpgDefinitely not for the faint hearted types, if the electric blue colour of these Chloe ankle boots doesn't get you noticed, the crocodile trim on them definitely will. Just in case there was any doubt about that, though, these also have cut-out details on each side of the ankle, a high stiletto heel and a pointed toe. So I think it's safe to say that while these won't be the most versatile boots in your closet, they will be among the brightest and most talked about. They're £455 from Browns, who promise "instant rock and roll attitude" to those who wear them.

Satin ballet flats by Marc Jacobs

marc-jacobs-satin-ballet.jpgMarc Jacob's shoe style tends to be rather self-consciously "quirky", so I was actually fairly surprised that these classically lovely ballet flats were his design. In an eye-catching fuchsia satin with an oversized rose embellishment, these are feminine and pretty and will work well with skirts and trousers alike. At £345, they're definitely not the cheapest pair of ballet flats you'll ever find, but they may well be amongst the prettiest, and if you think so too, you can pick up a pair at Browns.
