We're more used to seeing full-fronted sandals like these ones from Nine West in leather, for daytime wear, but if you love the style so much you want to wear it in the evening, too, these are the shoes for you. These are suitably glamorous for evening wear, while being unusual enough to make a pleasant change from the standard, glitter-strap sandals. The fashionable style will also allow you to give a nod towards the current trends, even under a strict dress code, while the bright green and blue satin is certainly loud enough. These are also available in a burnt orange and pink, and they're £60.

Is star print still in fashion? I'm not sure: there doesn't seem to be quite as much of it around as there was a month or so ago, but there are still bits and pieces of it in the shops, inlcuding these 'India' ballet flats from French Sole. The bright red makes a nice change from the more usual "white on black" star print we've been seeing lately, and red shoes are always a great way to add some colour to a dull outfit. These are £85, and come up small, so the company recommend ordering a size up.

Forget boat shoes, espadrilles and those legions and legions of rope-embellished heels, this summer the perfect complement to the nautical look is a pair of eye-popping red platforms... and if they have a wooden heel, then even better!
These River Island ones certainly tick the boxes and would look oh-so-fab with a pair of smart, cuffed shorts and a polo t-shirt. Great for wearing on into the night, they're £69.99.

Over the past few weeks, Miss Selfridge have mounted a cruel campaign to divest me of all of my money, by the simple measure of placing one highly covetable thing after another on their website. On the shoe front, I'm currently coveting these polka dot bow wedges, which are lots of fun for the summer months, with their mixture of large and small dots. Hopefully the cool, canvas uppers, peep toe and wedge should help keep your feet comfortable too, during those long hot days which surely must be just around the corner. Surely.

I've been neglecting Next again recently, after a few months of uninspiring footwear, but as I flicked through the website this morning, my attention was caught by these simple silver court shoes . These aren't really attention-getters in the strictest sense of the term, but if you're looking for a shoe that you'll be able to wear just about anywhere, these could well be it. The fold over detail on the vamp makes these a little more interesting than most court shoes, while the silver leather ups the glamour quotient a notch. They're restrained enough to wear to work, but the colour will also make them suitable for much more than just the office, making them a good buy at £60, I think.

There was much love for Miu Miu's cut-out harlequin booties when we featured them on Yay or Nay a few weeks back, so here's what I think is a more wearable version of the same design. These pumps use that harlequin style diamond pattern, and the same diamond cut-outs around the ankle, but miss out the ankle strap and "bootie" features of the other pair. What you're left with is a much simpler shoe which is no less striking, and if you loved the booties, you'll probably love these too, in which case you'll want to know that you can buy them for £345 from Net-a-Porter.

Just the thing to add a little Elle MacPherson soignée chic to your wardrobe these flat sandals from Browns are the perfect preppy shade of tan. The braiding adds a nice bit of textural interest without being too fuddy duddy and they would make even the most floaty floral dress smart enough for the office. They're by Christian Louboutin and will set you back £460.
