Not-So-Casual Friday: Moda in Pelle's high strappy 'Tiaamii' sandals

bling-sandalsa-moda-in-pell.jpgFriday night not complete without a generous dose of bling? Well, these 'Tiaamii' sandals from Moda in Pelle should be sparkly enough for even the most magpie-like of you. The diamante and jewel adornments cover almost all of the t-strap, making these real party shoes. Well, it's not like you're going to be able to wear them anywhere else, is it? They're £90 at Moda in Pelle, and if you're going to wear them, I think a dress with a little bit of restraint to it could be a good idea to try and balance things out.

Casual Friday: Giuseppe Zanotti jewelled thong sandals

33796_in_l.jpgCasual Friday doesn't have to mean raking through the bargain bin: these jewelled thong sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti are the luxe (very luxe) way to do "casual", although at £415, you're going to need to wear them on more than just the odd Friday here and there to really get your money's worth.

These will also be great on vacation, with that oversized purple jewel allowing you to dress them up or down as desired. For that price, though, I'd be really wary about leaving them lying around on the beach while you take a dip in the sea...

Get them at Net-a-Porter

French Connection's mustard T-bar peep-toes

mustard_fctbarheels.jpgThe colour mustard isn't an instant favourite amongst many, but personally, I'm a fan. And these French Connection patent leather T-bar strap peep-toes from Asos.com (£75) are certainly up there on my wish-list for next season.

I would team them with a pair of murky brown, or charcoal grey tights, and a frock. Perhaps this lantern dress by Topshop Boutique.

If mustard just isn't your thing, then never fear because this style is also available in purple. But I'm sticking to my guns on this one.

Balenciaga's square toed platform bow shoes

balenciaga-sqaure-toe.jpgBalenciaga aren't exactly known for making shoes for shy and retiring types, and while these ones are very restrained compared to the liked of the infamous 'lego' shoes , they're very striking all the same, mostly because of that square toe.

We've been seeing square toes pop up every known and again over the past year or so, and while I don't think they'll ever be as popular as round, point or almond toes (they can be much harder to wear, for one, and aren't always flattering), that popularity does seem to be increasing. Balenciaga have emphasised this one with a huge platform, and are selling them for £550 at Browns.

Halston Misa over-the-knee suede boots

halstonmisaboots.jpg

New in at Net-a-Porter this week - and sold out already - are these dramatic Halston Misa over-the-knee boots in grey suede. Certainly not footwear for the faint-hearted, these boots have approximately 4.5" chunky heels, half gold-tone zippers on the inside leg, as well as panel detailing.

The site suggests you can wear them over pants, under dresses and with skirts although I guess it would depend on the length of the skirts/dresses - I seem to recall reading the number one rule about over-the-knee boots being to never pair them with bare legs (a bit too Pretty Woman!) I'd be more inclined to go the Kylie route and team them with jodhpurs or cigarette-leg trousers. That is, if I could work up the nerve to actually wear them! How about you - would you be brave enough to wear them?

Taupe knee high 'Scout' boots from Barratts

scout.jpg My apologies for bringing you more posts about boots, when I know most of you are probably still hoping for sunshine, but when the weather's so bad and the shops are so full of lovely boots, what's a girl to do?

These 'Scout' boots from Barratts are described as 'taupe', but it's such a pale shade of taupe that they're almost nude, making them the winter successor to all those nude coloured shoes we've been seeing this summer. This colour will work with just about everything in your wardrobe, and the almond toe, stiletto heel and buckle detail makes them a glamorous way to ease yourself into winter. Best of all, they're only £45 - bargain!

Black glitter platform peep toes from New Look

black-glitter-platforms.jpgThose platform soles that don't seem to quite fit the bottom of the shoe aren't just the sole province of the big name designers - now New Look are at it too, with this decidedly cheaper version of the trend. This shoe is just £25, and comes in black or silver. I think the silver version is just slightly over the top on the glitter front, and actually, these may well be too, but it's a good price for a shoe you probably won't wear every day - or it may be, depending on whether or not you like a lot of glitter in your life and in your closet!
