Modrain prints have seen a rise in popularity recently, thanks to their bold contrasts and geometric patterns. But it's the combination of pattern and style which has me loving these purple suede Jimmy Choo Modrain tie booties. The chic flop of the tie detail is offset with the quirky patterned heel. Why follow the straight and narrow when you can always look individual? Though honestly, I can think of about 1,395 reasons because that is how much these shoes will set you back. Shame, they are very intriguing and would look so fantastic with this seasons hottest fashion item - the latex/glossy leggings.

Vogue may be trying to tell us that flats are going to be the shoes of the winter, but those of us who love our heels too much to want to follow that particular trend can rejoice in the fact that there are still skyscraper heels around - and lots of them, too. So far it looks like this is going to be a season of extremes, with low lows and high highs - literally. These Stella McCartney wedges clearly fall into the latter category, with a 5" wooden heel which I just can't stop staring at. The silver plate on the back of each heel just serves to emphasise the height even more, drawing the eye irresistibly to that super-high platform.
As Stella is well known for her anti-leather sentiments, these are faux patent leather, and cost $1145 from Bergdorf Goodman. If you're buying them, you might want to invest in some longer length trousers to wear with them!

This black and pink combo isn't actually the nicest version of these Naughty Monkey shoes, I don't think, but it's certainly the most eye-catching, which is why I'm featuring it here. Personally, I much prefer the black/gold or red/gold versions of this shoe - that pink is much too "Barbie" for me - but colour quibbles aside, I think this is a great shoe. I love the buckle detail on the side, and the two-tone colourways also appeal to me. The price isn't bad either: these are $90 at Zappos, which means all you have to do is decide which pair to buy...

Love dachshunds? Well, Mario Bologna has the perfect shoes to help you prove it! These taupe suede pumps look like a chic pair of pumps, suitable for the office or other semi-formal occasions - until you catch a glimpse of that little cartoon dachshund on the toe! Dogs and dress pumps don't generally tend to work all that well together, but these will certainly add a touch of humour to your office ensembles, and may just brighten up your working day into the bargain. They're $372 and available from Forzieri.

Yes, they are certainly zany all right. Victoria's Secret and shoes aren't necessarily two terms that I usually think of in the same sentence, however, the iconic lingerie label does dabble in footwear.
These gold zig-zag wedge, rhinestone embellished sandals are, well... something else. While I could easily picture them on winged angels, Gisele Bundchen or Heidi Klum, storming down the runway at VS's annual show, I doubt they hold much appeal for the average lass. Nevertheless, if they take your fancy then check them out online for US$89. Otherwise, I'm afraid to say it - but perhaps VS should stick to what it does best - pants.

Lace has gone from being just a trim to being the whole clothing item - just check out Charlize Theron's lace Prada dress at the premier of Hancock in Japan last week. If you're not ready to pull off a whole clothing item made of lace, take it slow with these Manolo Blahnik's Fontacu lace booties. Sure they're a hefty $785, but these black floral booties would be easier to wear than Charlize's dress. Featuring a lace-up front, open toe and slingback detail, these booties will keep your fall look all laced up. Yes, I had to throwin a pun somewhere didn't I?

It's not often I come across a Louboutin shoe I wouldn't give my left arm to own. Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't dislike these Orlan platforms. It's just that they are not going on my shoe wishlist right this very minute, as most other Louboutins do!
I will admit I love the colour, the suede leather, the T-strap and the uber high platform and heel. But the little peek-a-boo peep-toe isn't my scene I'm afraid. Is it yours? If so, for $885 these Loubs can be tucked up safely in your wardrobe. From Saks Fifth Avenue.
