Metal detecting sandals for beachy hi-jinx

metal_detecting_sandals.jpg

Shiny Shiny's Zara Rabinowicz writes...

Whilst these shoes are no Havaianas, they do serve an Indiana Jones-esque purpose of allowing you to discover buried trash dirty cans treasure as you pad along the beach. Cleverly hidden in the right sandal is a copper coil, which attaches to a battery pack strapped to your right leg. The ring creates a magnetic field around the sole of the shoe, and when you pass over something metallic (within a 2 foot radius) the field is disrupted and the battery pack vibrates and flashes red.

Now you can go dig up whatever exciting thing is underfoot - making you the Nancy Drew of beach trash/lost wedding rings. They work off a 9 volt battery, and are sure to look...er, extremely stylish (?!) when teamed with that itsy bitsy bikini. They're $59.99 from Hammacher Schlemmer.

Vera Wang Lavender ankle wrap platform sandals

vera_wang_lavender_ankle_pl.jpg

She may be most famously known for her exquisite bridal wear, but it appears Vera Wang sure knows a thing or two about shoes, too. These platforms are an extremely summery take on the gladiator heels and studded sandals which have been doing the rounds lately, and seem to combine those trends seamlessly.

Add a wooden heel, a stylish ankle strap and cool cutout details and you won't need any other sandals this season. They're available in both grey and black tumbled leather and are priced at $295 from Neiman Marcus.

Omelle's 'Artist' futuristic sandals

omelle_artist_sandals.jpgIt was only three weeks ago that I first told you about shoe label, Omelle, and its new e-commerce website. Well, I just can't seem to shake this brand and its stunningly unique designs, especially from the spring/summer '09 collection.

Take, for instance, these 'Artist' sandals. They are so futuristic-looking I wish I could see them on someone. I love the sculptured straps that round at the ankles, as well as the thick heel that is topped in bronze. For such craftsmanship, don't expect the price tag to be cheap. But they are so worth it. These babies retail for $695.

First look at the Shoe Lounge at Topshop USA

To our dear US readers - it is *almost* time to rejoice! For the highly-awaited Topshop USA flagship store in New York is about to open its doors. On the eve of the official launch, photos from inside the new store located at 478 Broadway in Manhattan, have been released via WWD. Amongst all 'top' things it offers, the Shoe Lounge which mirrors the one at Topshop's Oxford Street store, has to be up there. It's situated on the third floor and is apparently "filled with colourful platforms with metallic embellishments and plenty of height." Just one more reason to get excited!

Kors by Michael Kors 'Talulah' sandals

10942-793990-3.jpgTucked in amongst the corals, nudes and fluorescents this season, there's also a smattering of green shoes, and these Kors by Michael Kors sandals are just one example. These are also available in brown and black, but the green versions are by far my favourite, combining my favourite colour with a summery sandal, a high heel and an open toe. The uppers combine kid suede and vacchetta leather, and should be wonderfully soft and luxurious feeling. If only they weren't $249!

Christian Louboutin's red Dillian flower pumps

dillian.jpgChristian Louboutin has been using these large ruffles on lots of his shoes recently, but I think these red 'Dillian' pumps are my favourites so far. These shoes are designed to get noticed, and to bring a hint of drama to your look, and the red colour and oversized ruffle complement each other perfectly. There's also a 4.5" heel, a small platform - oh, and a $1,695 price tag. If you like them, you can pick up a pair at Saks.

Rock ALDO's 'Maune' lace-up suede wedges like a true fashion blogger!

aldo_maunewedges_bloggerstyle.jpg

While reading Refinery29's Top Six Online Style Stars, my attention was drawn to a pair of gorgeous shoes favoured by Sabrina Speineau of Professionally Trendy (pictured above, right). Then I discovered they were from ALDO and my heart flew. They are the 'Maune' suede wedges that lace all the way up to the ankle. I especially like the slim wedge heel and zig-zag cut-out sections. They're retailing for $140 - just try not to wear them out like Sabrina, I dare you!
