Over at Catwalk Queen there's a rundown of the top ten trends to try for the new season. In the world of footwear, the look that you can now get for less is the double strap Mary Jane, which originally caught our eye as part of the Spring / Summer Miu Miu advertising campaign. Now the high street has caught on and black patent offerings are everywhere, which is why the look made the list.
Visit Catwalk Queen for the entire top ten, and have your say on which ones you'll be giving a go!
I don't pretend to know much about football boots...but I do know these babies are a far cry from the ugly black studded numbers my brother used to wear when we were kids. Puma's v-Konstrukt II women's boot is pretty much the Manolo of the football / soccer world, created to protect the player from 'inner and outer forces' while still allowing them to, you know, kick a ball. It's got pride of place on Shoewawa today in honour of Kickster, a new blog from Shiny Media all about women's football. If you know more about footie than moi (or if you want to learn) it's the place to be. And I promise they'll never use phrases like 'the Manolo of the football world' when they talk about kit...

I have some great news for our American visitors. Today marks the official launch of two new blogs from Shiny US, our new US blog network. Shiny Style (fashion) and Shiny Gloss (beauty) are edited out of New York and Philadelphia with writers stationed across the USA.
We can't wait to get working with our sisters over at Shiny US, and we'll begin with the exclusive coverage of New York Fashion Week, straight from the tents at Bryant Park. Once fashion week is over, we hope our US visitors will continue to check out Shiny Style and Shiny Gloss as well as their favourite Shiny UK blogs (which will continue to have an international flavour).
Labour Day - The first Monday in September that marks the end of Summer in the USA and culminates in the millions-strong West Indian Carnival in Brooklyn. It's also behind one of the ultimate fashion no-no’s; No white shoes after Labour Day! Many reasons have been given as to why this style rule exists, from white not being considered an autumnal colour to it being just plain bad manners but I say...rules are meant to be broken. If you're a fashion rebel, join me in clicking your heels in a pair of these tomorrow and give the fashion police something to talk about...

Debra Messing, one of my favorite post-Lucy redheads, snipped the ceremonial ribbon that opened the newest Saks Fifth Avenue department on the eighth floor of the building - a shoe store so ambitious that its been given its own New York zip code by the Post Office. 10022-Shoe. Its even got its own freakin stamps. And, oh my goodness - there are 10,000 pairs of shoes on display. And, according to the NY Post, there will also be a full "shoe repair and refurbishing service, a Charbonnel et Walker chocolate café and a VIP back room for private shopping (not just shoes) with an adjacent fitting room. An express elevator will whisk shoppers straight to the floor." I say Shoewawa relocates to New York, 10022-SHOE, ey? Who's with me?

You may have noticed that Shoewawa has a new editor. As of this Monday, the fantastic Amber McNaught has taken over the day to day running of the site. But I hate to break the bad news to you all...that doesn't mean you're losing Ms Shoewawa all together. I've been writing and editing this site since it launched in late 2004 so it's very much 'my baby' and I have no intention of letting it go completely! In my new role as Editor-in-Chief most of what I'll be doing will happen behind the scenes, but I'll be in the videos and stopping by every Thursday from next week to wax lyrical about high heels, funky flats and everything in between. I'll look forward to seeing you then!
