These (yes I'll say it again) credit crunching times seem to be also applying to royalty. Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, has found a thrifty solution to her penchant for designer shoes during a visit to Timpson's shoe repair workshop.
Upon remarking that her Laura B heels could do with a bit of a shoelift, the cobblers offered to repair them on the spot. This left Sophie standing in just her bare stockings while Jimmy Clarke made the repairs.
"When she asked what repairs we do she said, 'Actually, I could do with having mine done!' She said she wouldn't mind going barefoot for a while," he said. [via Times]

January is a big month for awards ceremonies. Not only do we have The Oscars in just a few short days (assuming that they actually go ahead, of course), this month you also have your chance to vote for your favourite fashion blogs at The Fabbies.
The Fabbies are the first ever blogger-created and organized awards, and have been organised by The Manolo of Manolo's Shoe Blog, Tina Craig of Bag Snob, and Lesley Scott of Fashiontribes.com . We're thrilled to hear that Shoewawa has been nominated in the Shoes category, and we're hoping you'll all go on over and lend your support by voting for us at the site. (It's been having some technical difficulties over the weekend, so check back if it's down.)
While you're there, don't forget to vote for our fellow Shiny blogs, Catwalk Queen and Kiss and Makeup, in the fashion and beauty categories.
We love our readers almost as much as we love our shoes, and to prove it, we want to give one of you a 16GB iPod Touch. There is a catch, though, but luckily it's not painful: all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning the shiny, pretty thing is to take part in a three minute survey to help us find out what you think of Shiny Media, and a little bit more besides.
