I love skyscaper high heels, and I adore chic little flats. On cold days I look forward to pulling on my favourite bashed up leather boots or my (faux!) Ugg boots.
Confession time though, one of my favourite pieces of footwear is....my distinctly unglamorous pair of slipper boots. I've worn most of the soles off them, the once cosy inside layer is also wearing away, and the adorable bows on the side lost a fight a long time ago with my puppy.
So it's about time they were replaced. A serious contender for this purchase is this pair of grey star print booties from Peacocks. They're £10 and my cold feet are crying out for that toasty faux fur layer inside.

Slippers will never be quite as good as real shoes in the eyes of the dedicated shoe lover, but let's face it, if you're planning on spending any part of the holiday at all slobbing out in your pyjamas (and I know I am), they sure come in handy. This set from Superdrug contains a pair of fluffy, animal-print slippers, plus a foot scrub and lotion, so the person who receives it can have a good ol' foot-pampering session before kicking back and relaxing in a cosy pair of slippers.
This is £9.99 from Superdrug.

I use to knock comfy home shoes when I was younger, but I grew to love them when thick winter socks just didn't keep my feet warm during the cold winter months. While I never jumped on the Ugg boot bandwagon, I definitely understand why people want their feet to be comfy cosy. These aptly named Ted Baker 'Relax' slippers are the perfect indoor slippers with their suede outer and man made fur lining. To top it all off, if you're feeling lazy, these shoes have also been fitted with a driver sole so if you have to make that dash from the front door to the car for some drive through/takeaway pick up.

Even if you hate all things Ugg-style, there's no denying that this style of boot makes for a great, cosy pair of slippers. They're warm, they're comfortable, and given that you'll be wearing them in the privacy of your own home, who really cares what they look like?
Well, as it happens, I don't think these cable-knit slippers from Accessorize look bad at all. It's been a cold couple of weeks here in the UK, and the thought of being able to slip into a pair of these would make the weather a little more bearable. They're £15 from Accessorize.

In the summer, we had our heads messed with by the concept of crazily expensive flip-flops, and it seems the winter equivalent is stupidly steep slippers! This pair by William Sharp, for example, are covered in those omnipresent Swarovski crystals, and will set you back £130 at Net-a-Porter.
Now, insane as that may be I can almost see the point of these, given that I find most slippers so ugly and dowdy I don't even want to wear them around the house! But I think it's quite possible to glam up a pair of house-shoes without going for the obvious 'bling' look, and its resulting pricetag: these cute, flower-details slippers from Cath Kidston, for example, are much easier on the eye then your normal granny-style efforts, and also on the wallet at £24.

A little bit of moccassin here, a little bit mukluk there (with some knitted ugg thrown in for good measure), these "sweater boots" are a whole lotta fun and an amusing addition to your winter shoe collection.
Either wear them under your jeans or trousers for a very sedate loafer look, or amp up the fun-factor and team them with a cutesy grey dress and coloured opaques. They're $194 from Revolve Clothing, so you may wish to buy your 'investment' boots first before splurging on these!
