Milan Fashion Week shoes: Sheer tights with strappy sandals at Missoni

burberry-tights.jpg

Tights with sandals has long been denounced as one of the great fashion faux pas of our time, but the recent trend for sheer tights seems to be putting an end to that. These rather lovely strappy sandals, for instance, were worn with sheer tights on Missoni's catwalk this week at Milan Fashion Week, and Missoni haven't been the only designers recently to pair sheer tights and sandals in this way. The tights in question in these pictures are lacking the reinforced toe which I think makes the combination look bad, but I'm not sure how long I'd be able to wear them without sticking my toe right through the front - not a great look!

Would you/do you wear sheer tights with sandals, or is it still a "no-no"?

Theory Wynni Slipper Sock

thesh2002612867_prod_medium.jpg Looking for warm thick winter socks that eliminate the need for slippers in winter? Try this Wynni Slipper Sock by Theory from Shopbop, marked down to $115.50 from $165. The wool and cashmere blend sock has been fitted with a leather sole – finally a pair of socks you can walk around the house in without worrying about dirtying the sole. Though I wonder if you can throw the slipper sock in the wash, after all leather isn’t exactly fit for being drowned and swished around in a washing machine.

Footwear Trends: Just Cavalli's printed tights at Milan Fashion Week

79825020%5B1%5D.jpg

Brightly coloured and patterned tights were a big feature on the catwalks of New York and London this month, but Roverto Cavalli really went to town with prints for his Just Cavalli A/W 08 collection, shown at Milan Fashion Week. Flamingos were the big theme here, and featured heavily on everything from dresses and shirts to the tights shown above. Other outfits, meanwhile, were worn with sheer, animal print tights, with the giraffe print shown above in heavy rotation. What do you think of these prints? Will they form a major part of your winter wardrobe, do you think, or will you be sticking to your trusty, block coloured opaques?

American Apparel Prada-esque socks

americanappareltwosocks.jpgI've added American Apparel's logo to the image, because while I'm keen for you to see their Prada-esque socks I'm not that fussed about you seeing the young lady's crotch. They're only £8 and come in a cool range of colours but my favourite by far is the plum and lilac combo. They will look great with a pair of round-toe heels and a straight skirt.

Gypsie lace ballerina footsie tights by ASOS

footsietights.jpgCan't afford a new pair of shoes? Don't worry: if you can afford to spend £2.50 on these ASOS tights , they'll give your old black court shoes a new lease of life, transforming them into lace-up ballerina style shoes before your very eyes. There's also a lace effect on the foot, so you'll look like you're wearing ballet shoes even in your stocking soles, and are available in a choice of black or raspberry. The question is, though: do you like them?

Do you wear footsies with your court shoes?

footsies.jpg The weather isn't quite warm enough these days for bare feet in court shoes, but when it is, I know lots of women prefer to wear something like Footsies rather than leaving their feet completely bare.

While I can see that Footsie's are a good idea in that they'll stop your feet from sweating too much, and hopefully make your shoes feel more comfortable, I've just never been able to get along with them. Either I've been buying the wrong kind of shoes or the wrong kind of Footsies (the ones in the picture are £2.50 from Marks and Spencer), but no matter what I do, the tights always seem to end up showing above the edge of my toes - definitely not a good look.

What does everyone else think of these? Do you wear them, or do you prefer to go barefoot?
