The Stiletto phone: The perfect gift for shoe lovers
Now, this may look like something more likely to be featured on Shiny Shiny than on a shoe site, but under its shiny red patent finish and four inch heel lies a world of tech wizardry, namely that of the trusty telephone embedded in a sexy, shoe-like frame. This would add some boudoir glamour to any house, and wouldn't look out of place amongst the mounds of shoes I own. Hey, why shouldn't your phone reflect you? It's £14.95 from Tesco

Top 50 shoes of 2006: #39 - Biba is back!
This shoe makes it to number 39 on the list of the top 50 shoes of 2006 not because of what it looks like, but because of what it represents. This was one of the new Biba creations that hit the shelves this spring, marking the comeback of the 60s fashion powerhouse. The new high prices might have sparked controversy, but there was no denying the style and selling power of crazy creations like this, which sold at Browns for well over £200 last April.
The top 50 shoes of 2006 - the list so far
Top 50 shoes of 2006: 42, 41 & 40 - A glitter explosion!

We got sparkling early this year, with some very glittery options from our favourite designers selling out in Spring. These offerings from Topshop, Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu are all worthy of a spot in the top 50 shoes of 2006 for inspiring so many more glittery, sparkly and shiny shoes in the months to come. Keep watching for more reminders of the beautiful shoes we fell in love with this year. We've only got as far as April so far!
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #44 & #43

I hate these, let's just get that straight from the beginning. But the Chanel fabric-wrapped sandals and their Topshop alternatives deserve a mention in the 2006 top 50 purely for the splash that they made when they hit the catwalk. Love them or absolutely loathe them, there's no denying these shoes turn heads, as the high fashion fans who gave them a go can no doubt concur. For me, they're just a step too far into the obscure...
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #45 - The high street's low-cut court
Swooping in to claim the #45 spot on the top 50 shoes of the year (remember these are in no particular order until we get to the top 10) is this high street favourite bought to us not only by Faith but also by Oasis. The low-cut almond toe court shoe was seriously sexy without being over the top, and looked perfect with our sexy secretary cinch-waist outfits from earlier in the year. Definitely one of the top shoe bargains of 2006.
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #46 Gwendolyn Carrie's peep toe fishskin wedge
Time for more of our top 50 shoes of the year, and coming in at number 46 is this amazing fishskin wedge we found in March. It's from one of our favourite new discoveries of 2006, Gwendolyn Carrie, and in the flesh it's one of the most stunning shoes I've ever come across. You wouldn't think fishskin would be so hardwearing as it is, and the curved wedge heel is surprisingly sexy on the foot. I still want these shoes almost a year after first coming across them!
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #47
Office's 'dolly interbow' has to be one of the shoes of the year, having been released in everything from pink glitter to dogtooth check in the last 12 months. In March we were cooing over the nautical striped version. Yours for a reasonably £49.99 and a big seller throughout the Summer (remember when we all wore stripes?), the high street favourite makes number 47 on the top 50 shoes of 2006 list.
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #48 Marc by Marc Jacobs grosgrain ribbon flats
Back in February, we lauched the play the shoe stylist feature, and the big hit in the wardrobe stakes were these gorgeous (and wearable) flats from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The feature may have been slightly short-lived (if only we had more time) but the shoes remained a classic, and thus come in at number 48 on our Christmas countdown. The heeled version was just as gorgeous too.
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #49 - Patrick Cox chandelier wedges
When this talking point of a wedge from Patrick Cox hit the site in January, the reaction was an overwhelming 'wow!', which is why it makes number 49 in our end of year top 50. It may not be the most wearable look, but it's most definitely a work of art! Stay tuned for more of our top 50 shoes, including the top ten of 2006 at the end of the month.
Top 50 shoes of 2006: #50 - Christian Louboutin 'Biba' pumps
It seems only right that the first of our top 50 rundown of the best shoes of 2006 should come from way back in January. In fact, these Christian Louboutin shoes were one of the first yay or nays of the year, with a massive 55 of you giving your opinions (why doesn't that happen any more?). Dita Von Teese has been wearing these babies all year, and we still think they look fabulous almost twelve months on. Love them!
Shoewawa's top 50 shoes of 2006

Throughout December, we'll be bringing you the Shoewawa top 50 shoes of 2006. For numbers 50 - 11 we'll be scouring the archives for the best and most talked-about shoes we've shown off since January, finishing up with our top ten shoes of the year just after Christmas. We're choosing the shoes based on various things, so no doubt our choices will spark controversy as they won't all be stunners (we'll throw in some ugly shoes and celeb favourites of course). If there's a shoe you think should make the list, drop me a line now. Just don't say the Christian Louboutin 'bruges'...
