Recently I've had pictures of Converse high-tops thrown in my face left right and centre thanks to my friend's obsession to get a purple pair. I've slowly begun to not notice the slight differences in the shoe (besides the obvious things like colour and how high the high tops are) but when I saw these Converse High-Tops in a '60s Tie Dye print, I had to admit they were pretty cool. Slightly hippie dippie, they're great because of the splashes of different shades of blue and the fact that it's tie dye! While I would never wear "Cons" myself, they're not a bad casual shoe for $47 from Shopbop.

For a retro take on Casual Friday, look no further than Pin Up Girl Clothing, who are selling these cute little cherry print sneakers with a Mary Jane strap on the front, for $28. Unlike many pairs of sneakers, these are going to work with almost anything, from jeans to skirts and dresses, and they're also very feminine - well, they couldn't really be anything else with that print, could they? Perfect shoes for summer holidays or any other casual occasions, you definitely won't want to keep them just for Fridays.

I owned a pair of those platform trainers a la Spice Girls back in the day, and I'd put money on you having owned some too (or at the very least, knowing someone who did). Platform sneakers are dead to me now - and even the lovely Gwen Stefani cannot convince me otherwise. These L.A.M.B wedge sneakers are like something that would exist in one of my very weird nightmares, perhaps involving demented clowns? (Sorry Gwen, I still love ya!) But hey, if they're your bag, go nuts... They're $235 from shopbop.com.

Thomas Wylde is known for his skull print scarves (much like Alexander McQueen was a few seasons ago) but Wylde actually branched out and put skulls on more accessories and clothing items. One of the items are these funky canvas sneakers, perfect for the girl who doesn't like to wear heels or ballet flats too often. The dead head skull print sneakers would look great with jeans or even a LBD for a mixing of genre's look. These shoes are on sale now at Net-A-Porter, so if you want them you better get in to score yourself a bargain!

For some, casual Friday means dressing down in your oldest, comfiest shoes. If you're a designer kind of gal, though, that just won't cut it, so just for you, these Comme des Garcons sneakers will allow you to indulge your label love while remaining (relatively) casual and comfy. Of course, the gold leather they're made from may be a bit of a giveaway, but these are down to £155 in the Browns sale section, so you're still getting a bargain.

Well, it looks like my dreams of one day becoming a word leader are over. According to a new study, you see, it's apparently been found that people who buy three pairs of sneakers or more per year are 61% more likely to have the qualities of a modern leader. Given that I haven't bought any sneakers in the past year at all, this is bad news for me, but good news for my husband, who bought a total of seven pairs on our last holiday.
Mindset Media surveyed 7,500 people in order to reach the conclusion that more trainers = greater leadership qualities. Maybe someone should take a look inside Clinton and Obama's shoe closets?

They're not the most attractive shoes ever to feature on these pages, but then again, they're not supposed to be, for these Power Diet Trainers have another way to win your heart - by helping you burn up to 300 calories in thirty minutes. The soles of the shoes contain weights, which you can change to alter the pace of your workout. The weighted technology also challenges your cardiovascular system, while the insole is designed to disperse and absorb pressure and impact on the feet, and the design of the shoe helps correct posture while enhancing circulation and breathing capacity.
These aren't cheap at £115 each, but if you fancy trying them out, you can find them at Love Those Shoes,
