I've noticed an alarming shoe trend, or should I say trainer trend. Nineties staple trainer, the Hi-Top's are coming back. Reebok are currently relaunching their Freestyle Cities shoe collection and various retailers have hi-tops in stock too. So if you can't beat em, why not join them with these Ash Hi-Top Perforated Trainers from Urban Outfitters. Made from perforated leather and finished with a white rubber toe cap, these silver shoes don't look half bad. I can see girls now wearing them with black skinny jeans, much like Ashlee Simpson.

'Country Sleek' indeed! These trainers from Adidas - complete with the trademark three stripes - are really quite lovely! With their matching green sole and pretty perforated detail, these would make a fantastic weekend shoe for those "true love" mini-breaks to the countryside. Pair with denim for casual chic; if you've been looking for a breath of fresh air for your feet, these minty fresh trainers are just £49.99.

What do you get if you cross a brogue with a trainer? How about these babies from KangaROOS? Despite the fact they're the antithesis of everything I usually go for in a shoe (um, where's the heel?) I actually find myself loving them. I imagine them dirtied up a bit and worn with skinny flare jeans to the kind of events that cry out for boyish footwear (think gigs, festivals and footie matches). If only they came with a pink trim! See KangaROOS.com/uk for stockists.
Did you lust after Victoria Beckham's white sneaker-wedges when she pitched the opening ball to kick off the baseball season last year? Because if you did, here is a shoe for you. And you won't need Victoria Beckham's bank account to buy it either - Rebels Mel Wedge will only set you back $49 from Delia's. Made entirely of canvas and mesh with a rubber toe, they're not quite sport-worthy (the 3" high wedge heel probably helped give that away) but they're perfect if you have attend some sort off sporting endeavor to hand out snacks/water/towels and you still want to be able to strut your stuff. You can look sporty without leaving your high heeled walk behind. Now if you're actually nodding in agreement with me, please let me know if you buy these.

Who here is old enough to remember when hi-top sneakers were all the rage back in the early-mid 1990s? If you do remember, then hopefully you're just like me and wondering what these Pastry Hi-Top Sneakers from Delias are doing in 2008. I know we're suppose to be into all things retro, but pastel hi-tops with lips printed on them for $70? No no no no no! There is not one good thing I can say about these, I'm ready to banish all thoughts of the early-mid 90s as soon as I finish writing this. If you're not, perhaps consider purchasing these high tops, pair it with some leg warmers, stone washed high waisted jeans, an oversized t-shirt and watch the first season of Beverly Hills 90201 till your heart's content.

These are perhaps the strangest looking casual shoes I've seen in some time! Are they a trainer? Are they a sling-back? Are they a sandal? Who knows! But they're pretty darn bizarre... and ugly to boot! Still, if you think they'll help you show off a "fun and crazy side" (their words, not mine), they're a whole $69 a pop from Puma!

I'll admit that these casual trainers aren't a pair that would ever grace my feet, but there's no arguing that they're not eye-catching! Covered in a colourful multitude of metallic butterflies, these are the perfect trainers for someone who just can't help but sparkle! If you like your trainers "young, funky and fun", they're Babycham and are £29.99 from Office.
