Casual Friday: Nike Liberty Patchwork Dunks

nike-patchwork.jpgI I just can't stop staring at these Nike Liberty-print patchwork trainers. To me, they look like what would happen if you melted down a million Hollie Hobbie dolls and painted a Nike 'swoosh' on top of them - somehow without the car-crash result you'd expect. Instead, Nike have actually managed to achieve what I thought was the impossible: they've created a pretty pair of trainers.

The 'extremely limited edtiion' patchwork shoes are one of three styles designed especially for Nike by Liberty, following an earlier teamup that proved hugely successful. I love this style to bits, and can see them looking folksy and fab with a pair of mid-blue denim jeans and a crisp, pale spring top. Available from Liberty at £85 [Via Style Bubble]

Shoe ads: Leighton Meester for Reebok's 'Top Down' trainer

leightonmeester_reebok_adrelease.jpg

It's no big secret that Leighton Meester is the new brand ambassador for Reebok - we told you the news months ago! Nevertheless, here is the first ad release for the new campaign for Reebok's 'Top Down' trainers. I quite like the retro style of the ads, with Leighton in a swishy skirt, Reeboks and standing next to an old school boombox. The Gossip Girl star launched the ads in New York over the weekend, with the campaign expected to break later this year. [via Just Jared]

Topshop's Ash peach metallic buckle boots

topshop_ashmetallicbuckleboot.jpgAt first glance I wouldn't consider these 'Ash' buckle boots peach in colour, more pink, but then internet pictures can often be deceiving.

Either way, they're probably unlike any trainers that you've got in your wardrobe. I particularly like the soft brush metallic fabric and multiple buckles. They tone the girlieness down a bit, and toughen up the style by also stopping at the ankle. At £110 from Topshop, they aren't cheap, but will probably last you forever.

Nike x Nylon Dunk High trainers: What all the cool kids are wearing

nike_nylon_trainers.jpgCombining two of my favourite brands (one footwear and one magazine) are the Nike Nylon Dunk High trainers.

Based on Nike's classic Dunk High style, the footwear label have collaborated with the fashion-savvy folks at Nylon magazine in a solid colour scheme. Available in bright pink, lime green, and yellow, and are branded with the Nylon label. No doubt all the cool kids at New York Fashion Week will be wearing them.

Nike's multi-coloured Dunk High Premium edition trainers

nike_highpremium_dunk_multicoloured.jpgYou'll be a head-turner in these Nike multi-coloured Dunk High Premium edition trainers. Made of six different colours including rave pink, varsity red and grass green, the highlight has to be the metallic orange heel.

Okay, so this is not going to be for everyone but if you feel up to the challenge then check them out at the Nike store for US$108. Including a special Nike Zoom sole they are meant to be very comfortable.

Texas high top trainers from Topshop

texas-high-top-trainers.jpgIf the image before you is burining your retinas, I'm afraid I have bad news for you: fashion is going through yet another 80s revival, so you should probably expect to see a lot more of this kind of thing in the coming months. I'm sorry.

If, on the other hand, you think these are the best thing ever, you'll be pleased to know that they're only £35 from Topshop, who recommend wearing them with a "bodycon skirt and bright tee." Those who don't want to look totally like a time traveller from the 80s might want to consider a plain pair of jeans instead - that way you can give a nod towards the era without looking like it threw up on you.

Pewter metallic lace-up pumps from Dorothy Perkins

metallic-pumps-dp.jpgHappy hump day! I don't know about you, but Wednesday's always feel like a day to get comfy and cosy to me, and if that's an option for you, here's a nice casual shoe to do it in! These are from Dorothy Perkins, and while the style is pretty laid back, the pewter uppers make them a little bit more interesting, and will go with almost everything in your wardrobe. They're also a bit of a bargain at just £18, so ideal for those of us who like to save our money for stilettos and spend as little as possible on more practical choices.
