I haven't really thought about trainers in a good few years, but they suddenly seem little more appealing. This time round I'm lusting after the hi-top styles I used to mock in my youth, how fashion makes a mockery of you!
I like these ones from Topshop, (£60) they're sufficiently generic to be more stylish than a sports brand shoe and are great for adding a tough edge to dresses and skinny jeans.
We love our sexy stilettos and swanky party shoes here at Shoewawa, but by Friday our toes are pining for a pair of comfy flats to see us through the day. While the high street is almost over the owl as a decorative trend, thankfully that happy little creature is still having some fun with our footwear! In a blue shade reminiscent of a clear summer's sky, it's the owl print and brooch embellishment that make these oh-so-adorable. A great pair for casual Friday, they're reduced to £15 in the Office sale.
Currently I'm on a mission to find two pairs of trainers. One of them is a replacement for my beloved gym Nike's, and one is hopefully something smart enough I can wear to the office, but still comfy and cushioning when I slouch around on the weekends. In the Nushu trainer, £44.99 from River Island I think I've found my perfect day shoe, as it's comfy enough to make wearing a pleasure, but smart enough with its nu-buck trim and suede details to be suitable for work. Now I just need to find a workout trainer...
The other day I described to you the experience that is the Nike iD store, well today, you lucky, lucky things, I'm bringing you an even closer look. I'm speaking to one of the design consultants, Matt, about the designing process, and showing you just what a before and after looks like. Enjoy!
I love shoes, I do, but all too often I have complaints about the ones I buy. The heel may be perfect, but I don't like the colour of the lining, or the colour is great, if only it were a slightly different style. With the Nike iD studio this is no longer an issue as you can design a trainer of your choice to your exact specifications. There are 54 different styles, including 5 premium editions which are only available in the Nike iD lounge, where only 4 people can design at any one time, so you each get a personal consultation with a trained style consultant.
I went down to Niketown to test it out, before it opens on Friday. The first impression I got was that I was stepping into shoe heaven, surrounded by masses and masses of brightly coloured trainers, in all shapes and sizes and with different finishes and embellishments. I couldn't take my eyes off the brightly coloured wall displays, and was so excited I was going to make one of my very own! The challenge would be stopping at only one pair!
If there's one thing I love more than shoes, it's a shoe sale! ASOS, in their usual way, is having a clearance of many fabulous styles - perfect for tucking away until next spring/summer or to wear to death between now and then. With choices like peep-toes (which, if you'll remember, are perfect for winter with a pair of thick tights!), Mary Janes and quite a selection of flats, plimsolls and trainers, why not take advantage? For our picks, see after the cut...
A girl can't go wrong with a nice pair of trainers as they're invaluable items that will take you from work (depending on your job) to the weekend, and keep your tootsies comfortable while around you people totter in blister making stilts. These trainers have a cute old skool feel, and I like the stars adorning them, though you can choose other designs. At only £18 from Faith they're a total steal.
