Ash "Vavin" distressed leather high-top sneakers

ashvavin_fpx.jpg I've never been one to fall for sneakers before, especially since I bought my first pair in over 5 years when I thought I'd take up boxercise (exercising is another nonexistent thing for me as well). The pair of sneakers that I were purchase that "inspired" day have since sat in their box under my bed. Along with the gym socks I was talked into buying in the store (a girl in a sports store must equal sucker). Anyway I digress, so back to these Ash "Vavin" high-top sneakers. I've never seen them in leather before, but they are kind of I-don't-care-what-you-think James Dean kind of cool. The distressed leather gives it a well worn look, like a leather jacket that's seen its way around many towns on the back of a rebel without a cause on a motorcycle. Perhaps these could be my next sneaker-whim purchase, after all $180 isn't asking too much now is it?

Sergio Rossi collaborates with Puma

sergio_pumateamup.jpgAnother sportswear/designer collaboration has hit the mainstream with Sergio Rossi teaming up with Puma on a capsule footwear collection.

Puma's legendary 'Clyde' sneaker has been updated with a modern, and dare I say it, unusual twist. Harking back to those girl group days, the collaboration has produced a range of sneaker-heels, with two versions to choose from.

Keep your eyes peeled as they hit Sergio Rossi and Puma stores over the coming months, as well as at Colette where they will be exclusively stocked.

limited-edition-'Electric-T.jpg

Well, I don't think anyone could accuse these trainers of being the boring option somehow...

They're Ontisuka Tiger's limited edition 'Electric Tiger Land Sunotore 72' trainers, and they glow under UV lighting and in the dark to reveal the Tokyo skyline. If you like them, they're available at the company's store in Newburgh Street, London, priced at £80.

Veja ethical sneakers set up store in London

veja3.jpgWith their simple and iconic designs, Veja fairtrade sneakers are proving to be a hit the world over, and an ethically-focused rival to estabished names like Onituska Tiger. And now, Veja is now branching out of its native France with a new store to open tomorrow in London's Brick Lane.

Veja's collection has grown rapidly since its launch in 2003, with many new and interesting colour combinations, materials and styles. But the company has remained true to its ethics, sourcing organic cotton from Brazil and wild rubber from the Amazon. You'll find the new store at The Old Truman Brewery.

Casual Friday: Chipie lace-up trainers from Barratts

chipie-trainers.jpgBack when I was in high school (all this was fields, then) Chipie trainers went through a surge of popularity and were, briefly, the only thing to be seen in, which means this pair hold a degree of nostalgic appeal for me. They come in black or this metallic purple colour, both of which make them much more interesting than what I think of as "normal" trainers - i.e. any bright white ones.

If you like them, and feel like having yourself a bit of a casual Friday, they're £45 and available at Barratts.

Foil casual trainers from New Look

foil-trainers.jpgThe humble trainer gets a makeover, courtesy of New Look, and a whole lot of glitter. These shoes are only £15, but are a world away from the traditional scruffy white trainer - in fact, they wouldn't look out of place on a night out, such is their sparkle quotient. For those of you don't like glitter, there's also a pair available in a black leather-look upper with white soles and laces -classic but comfortable! Get them at New Look.

Blowfish Harp Sneaker from Delias

blowfish154667_gre_w.jpg Ruffles on a sneaker? Well that's certainly novel. While ruffles can be sweet and sometimes sexy, I don't think these Blowfish Harp sneakers from Delias are either. Firstly because these are grey flannel sneakers, and secondly because... well ruffles on a sporty shoe. They're currently selling for $54.50 - would you pay that much and what would you wear them with?
