Skechers commercial circa 1997

Remember when Skechers were cool? You know, during the days just before Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera took turns to front their advertising campaign. Well if you don't remember, check out this commercial. The clothes and the shoe style's make me laugh - did we really wear those looks and shoes in 1997? Did you wear "the S"?

Check out of the "vintage" Skechers ads staring Aguilera, Ashlee Simpson and even Carrie Underwood here.

Keds to go Eco-friendly for Artists for Humanity

keds-artistsforhum.jpg

Keds are set to release an eco-friendly edition of their Champion Slip On's together with Artists for Humanity for a "one-of-a-kind earth friendly Campion Slip On". So how eco friendly are these shoes? Well they're made from 100% organic cotton uppers, 25% recycled factory rubber outsoles, and water based printing ink illustrations of flying bottles. And each one of these shoes sold will see $1 donated to Artists for Humanity, a Boston area non-profit charity who works with under-served youth to create self sufficiency through paid employment in the arts. The flying bottles were chosen as the symbol to express concerns abouth the environmental impact of bottled water consumption. The shoes are due to hit stores and online mid March.

Casual Friday: Skechers' 'Bikers Dreamy' trainers

biker-dreamy-skechers.jpgIt's not often that you see the words 'floral' and 'trainers' in the same sentence, but there you go! These trainers are certainly on the girly end of the scale, but without sacrificing utility for those of you who take your athletic shoes seriously. Casual, comfortable and stylish; Skechers have gone a long way to show that 'comfortable, but ugly' is on the way out! If you could do with a pretty new pair of trainers for your collection, they're £45 from Barratts.

Reebok release Cool Aid scented running shoes

reebokcoolaid.jpg

I know whiffy trainers aren't pleasant, but Reebok's solution to the problem seems a little unusual. Rather than adding regular Odor Eaters or the like to their shoes, they've just released a line of trainers with a Cool Aid Scent. The shoes are available in grape, cherry and strawberry "flavours" (I'd really, really recommend that you don't try and taste them, though!), and if that's not enough for you, there's also a range of hoodies, t-shirts and hats to go with them. Check out some more images here. So, how do you feel about having cool aid scented feet?

Blowfish Canvas Hobbit Sneaker

delias-blowfishbotties.jpg

Now, let's just get the record straight, I am not a sneaker girl, I don't even own a pair of shoes that resembles something one could exercise in. But I find these Blowfish Canvas Hobbit Sneaker's too sweet. They look like a nice comfortable shoe to wear when the weather is still too cool for opened toe shoes, and the floral pattern is so shabby chic that I'd buy them just to have them sit among my shoes and look pretty. Made from canvas with rubber bottoms, the some in black, floral, blue with sports, grey, and purple. They will set you back $48 from Delias - quite worth it if you ask me. But I would hate to ruin my non-sneaker filled shoe collection ;)

Casual Friday: Snazzy sneakers from Guess by Marciano

guess-marciano-gingerly-sneaker.jpgI'm going to be honest with you. Trainers aren't usually something that interest me, because experience has shown that it's hard to find a pair that isn't too chunky or heavy for day-to-day wear, compared with comfy Keds or pretty casual ballet flats. I'm going to set my prejudices aside, though, to say that I'd change my mind for these. In a feminine slim-line shape, these trainers would be ideal for trekking around beautiful cities on a European tour, or for long weekends in the countryside. Style and comfort combined; they're leather, they're from Guess by Marciano and will set you back $69.95 from Bakers.
