The Clash celebrate 30th album anniversary with Converse range

theclash_converse.jpgJust as they did with The Grateful Dead, Converse have teamed up with The Clash to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their hit album, London Calling.

London is literally calling your feet with this range of customised High Top Chuck Taylor's for spring 2010. The collection features white leather versions, as well as black and khaki canvas versions, with special tags and labels that identify the rockers with their record-breaking album.

Remember to keep an eye out for them. They will be released in January 2010.

Angeline Tournier: Glamming up trainers

Angelinetourniertrainer.jpgAngeline Tournier is a fairly new addition to my shop browsing activities, but I'm really impressed with their girly twist on the fairly unglamorous trainer.

These bling-tastic heart trainers on the right are £189. We featured the silver versions back in 2008, which featured a red heart.

Pop them on your Christmas list. After all those Christmas dinners and chocolate treats, you'll need something pretty impressive to persuade you to hit the gym.

They've also got some pretty ballerina flats too, which you can see below.

Kanye West's shoe line for Louis Vuitton sold out already

kanye_west_louis_vuitton_sold_out.jpg

They might well be the most expensive pair of trainers you'll ever encounter, but even if you still wanted a pair of the Kanye West-designed kicks from Louis Vuitton, the bad news my friend, is you can't. They were on the shelves for a day and they've already sold out! Well, that's the gist of the story anyway...

The Cut blog reckons there has been a waiting list since January, and since they closed that, they have been taking names for a wish list. Which would mean no shoes were ever going to hit the shop floor. Oh well, they're still good to look at and If It's Hip, It's Here has allllll the pics, so head on over there and knock yourself out!

Do you customise your footwear with doodles and designs?

diy_sneakers_drawings.jpg

If you were one of those kids at school who always doodled in the margins of your schoolbooks, or who, even now, loves to flex your creative muscle with a bit of fashion DIY, then the sight of these shoes by French blogger Le Navire Valsant will probably ring a few bells (ah, 90s fashion, gotta love it).

Since we're currently seeing something of a revival of this 90s grungy fashion, more and more of this kind of thing is happening again - just lately, I've seen some talented people who have obviously bought a cheap pair of canvas plimsoles and have then gone to town with a Sharpie and come up with some truly unique results. My drawing talent is dodgy at best, so I wouldn't even attempt this, but I'd definitely be interested to know if you do! And if you'd like to send in any pics to show me what you've created, then even better. You can email me on kelly[@]shinymedia.com.

Ash shell taupe satin high top heels

ash_shell_taupe_satin_shoes.jpg

Try as I might, I don't think I will ever understand the constant... well, insistence, of shoe designers to bring out heels in the form of trainers (or should that be trainers in the form of heels?) It doesn't matter if they're platforms, wedges or stilettos - they didn't look good on the Spice Girls and I'm pretty certain they will never look good on the rest of us either!

At least these ones are slightly more intriguing than the Spice Girl specialties, thanks to their pleated grey silk satin and bold lemon velvet laces. The model makes them look half-reasonable too, but sorry, am still not convinced. Are you? They're £90 from Coggles if you just so happen to be...

Cath Kidston floral white cotton plimsoles

cath_kidston_floral_plimsoles.jpg

All you fellow Londoners out there dealing with the tube strike, I commiserate. I also wish to impart some (yes, rather obvious) wisdom to all those who are making their way to and from work today and tomorrow and that is: wear some comfy and rainproof walking shoes! Don't do as I did this morning and wear your silly old ballet flats, as when you have to walk across London in the rain, you'll find this isn't the best idea going...

I'm wishing I had of thought of this earlier and arranged to have had these cute Cath Kidston plimsoles on my feet instead. They look like they could withstand a bit of walking and even though they're no waterproof wellies, they'd probably do better to keep the rain out than my pumps. Very cute, too! They're £16 from Cath Kidston.

SHOEWAWA PREVIEW: Onitsuka Tiger A/W 09

onitsuka_tiger_aw09.jpg

Just got back from the Onitsuka Tiger A/W 09 press day preview and, as always with this brand, there is a lot to be excited about. They've continued with the super cool Zodiac theme from Spring/Summer (you know, animals of the zodiac and the five earth elements) and have enlisted street artist Victor Ash along with now seemingly regular Onitsuka collaborator, Japanese designer Takeshi Fukui, to create some shoes with a real wow-factor. There were also some bright and bold colour combinations from the mainline range which were lots of fun and, of course, all the tried-and-true favourites like the famous Kill Bill shoes.

Stay tuned to Shoewawa and we'll feature some of the great designs from the collection as they become available to purchase.
