Barratts silver trainers with velcro strap

54_223_0936.jpg

Metallic trainers - the easy way to dress up a casual, comfortable look! I love them, and I particularly like the slimline look of these ones from Barratts, which have a cracked-effect upper which will look good poking out of the bottom of jeans. Comfort and a bit of glamour - all for £25 at Barratts.

Leighton Meester recruited as the new face of Reebok

leightonmeester_reebokcampaign.jpg

Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester (a.k.a. Blair Waldorf) has joined the campaign for Reebok. I know. It's not quite what I expected either, but nonetheless Reebok have been known to embrace the pulling-power of a few it-girls, Agyness Deyn and Scarlett Johansson for example. Leighton was spotted shooting the campaign on the streets of New York earlier this week (pictured above) much to the dismay of GG lovers who argue that no one on the hit teen show even wears trainers. They have a point. [via Fashionista]

Casual Friday: Puma Pop Art trainers

Puma Pop Art.jpgPuma has a fantastic new range of shoes and sportswear based on the iconic work of Roy Lichtenstein. I particularly like these trainers, which are also available in red and grey, as they are at once delightfully simple and immediately reminiscent of the pop art guru's style; this simplicity contrasts starkly with Nike's far less subtle attempt at capturing the style. In fact, I like these so much that they might even come between me and the Onitsuka Tigers I've had my eye on for months... £40 at ASOS

New Balance for Nine West - range preview

newbalanceforninewest_preview.jpgAs I mentioned back in August, New Balance and Nine West have teamed up to collaborate on a range of casual footwear.

Here is a preview of that colourful collection, described as 'energetic, fun, a bit mischevious and spontaneous'. Combining elements of the classic 410 trainer, the range includes fabrics such as t-shirt jersey and is represented by an anime character known as 'Nwibi' - click here to find out more.

Casual Friday: Puma Mystere Chervron trainers

puma-mysetre.jpgWhen it comes to trainers, I always find slightly retro styles a little easier to wear because they tend to be that bit sleeker and narrower than many of the chunky, rugged styles around now. These Mystere Chevron trainers by Puma get my vote, then, not just because of their retro looks, but because of the gold uppers which help glam them up a little and make them a good choice for those casual Fridays where you want to dress comfortably but don't quite know where the day will take you. They're $75 from Piperlime.

Ash "Vavin" distressed leather high-top sneakers

ashvavin_fpx.jpg I've never been one to fall for sneakers before, especially since I bought my first pair in over 5 years when I thought I'd take up boxercise (exercising is another nonexistent thing for me as well). The pair of sneakers that I were purchase that "inspired" day have since sat in their box under my bed. Along with the gym socks I was talked into buying in the store (a girl in a sports store must equal sucker). Anyway I digress, so back to these Ash "Vavin" high-top sneakers. I've never seen them in leather before, but they are kind of I-don't-care-what-you-think James Dean kind of cool. The distressed leather gives it a well worn look, like a leather jacket that's seen its way around many towns on the back of a rebel without a cause on a motorcycle. Perhaps these could be my next sneaker-whim purchase, after all $180 isn't asking too much now is it?

Sergio Rossi collaborates with Puma

sergio_pumateamup.jpgAnother sportswear/designer collaboration has hit the mainstream with Sergio Rossi teaming up with Puma on a capsule footwear collection.

Puma's legendary 'Clyde' sneaker has been updated with a modern, and dare I say it, unusual twist. Harking back to those girl group days, the collaboration has produced a range of sneaker-heels, with two versions to choose from.

Keep your eyes peeled as they hit Sergio Rossi and Puma stores over the coming months, as well as at Colette where they will be exclusively stocked.
