Every year I think to myself "I must buy some new boots". And without fail, every year for almost 5 years, I have not purchased another pair of boots. Call me particular or penny pinching, but I just can't find another 'perfect' pair. So a girl has to learn how to polish her leather shoes properly and not just get the shoe polish with the sponge already attached to the tip. This handy little video from Esquire shows us step by step on how we should care for our shoes. It's useful, but has me thinking it might be less time consuming to buy a new pair of boots. Especially since I don't have any of those tools and products required to polish my current pair.
We all know that there is an Elizabeth & James shoe line, in collaboration with Steve Madden, in the works. As well as a jewellery line with Robert Lee Morris. But what can we expect from these collections? The Olsen twins appeared on Oprah last week, and allowed cameras into their showrooms to see what goes into creating these ranges. Click play on the video above for a sneak peek and a look at Mary-Kate and Ashley at work.
If you find yourself in Toronto, put the Bata Shoe Museum on to your must-visit list. This museum has quite a few stories to tell about footwear, from what it was like to be a knight going into battle and donning long pointed Sabatons, and how much you can learn about trade patterns in native North America through intricately crafted beaded moccasins, there is something for everyone. With over 1000 shoes on display, this place is worth a visit, especially if you're interested in Footwear Through the Ages and The Rise of the Ballet Shoe. This is definitely a interesting place to visit if you're in the Toronto area - the video above, although it is narrated by a Russian (which I don't understand), gives us a insight into what exactly is on display.
One of Shoewawa's favourite shoe designers Jonathan Kelsey, has created a limited edition £50,000 shoe... yes, really. Don't believe me? Then check out this video above that he recently made for Grazia at Paris Fashion Week. The luxe shoe is made from crocodile, and features 18 carat gold and 16 carat diamond embellishment. Wowzers! Like any of us could afford such extravagance but if you happen to be one of the very fortunate few, then they are available now at David Morris boutiques.
Before you leave your computers for the weekend, I thought I'd share this video with you. Featuring Jay Alexander, whom some of you may remember from his appearances in America's Next Top Model as the model walking coach. Caught at New York Fashion Week by Better.tv (by a woman with a rather odd accent) he talks about how he trains models to walk in sky high heels, what you can do to walk better in heels, and how he wasn't allowed in one of the fashion shows. Didn't they know who he is?? ;)
Victoria and David Beckham launched the latest fragrance in their ever expanding DVB empire in Spain with the former Spice Girl sporting a pair of boots women everywhere could not stop talking about. Her skin tight Antonio Berardi boots had no heel and were talked about from here to Timbuktu with many wondering how she walked in them. Well first and foremost, she would have been walking on her tip toes most of the evening, even though the thick platform would have been quite heavy to balance out. Watch the video and see if you can pick out how Victoria Beckham strutted her stuff in those heel-less boots.
What happens when you put Katy Perry and Steve Madden in the same Lower Eastside Steve Madden store? Well you get music and some very cool shoes! Katy Perry performed live at the store to celebrate the launch of www.stevemaddenmusic.com in June and the I had to share this clip because it has the cutest snippet of Steve singing "I kissed a shoe and I liked it" (at about 1:26 seconds) - we can tell Steve, after all you made quite a career out of it.
