Just yesterday we showed you a video from the Academy of Art University fashion show - remember, the model lost her shoe half way down the catwalk and the other models followed suit as if it was planned? Well another shoe incident occurred at New York Fashion Week Spring 2009, this time at the Andy & Debb fashion show where a model's heel actually breaks off. It's something we always dread will happen to us when we're in our highest and thinnest stilettos, but this model shows us how to handle it. By walking as if it were still there!
Thankfully I've never had a heel break on me (knock on wood) but I've had the odd hole and ballet flat fill with water during a sudden downpour. What shoe malfunctions have you suffered?
Models falling over on the runway is one thing, but models banding together after a shoe loss? At the Academy of Art University fashion show recently a model's foot slipped out of her shoes - she made it down the runway unfazed and even picked up her shoes on the way back. But instead of allowing that to be the focus of the show, each model that followed the first down the runway removed their shoes as if it was meant to happen! Well I've never seen that on the runways before, I wonder if that was at the request of the designers, show producers or something the models did...
You might be one of the top models in the world, but even shoe mishaps happen to you. Take Karolina Kurkova, she's one of the prestigious Victoria's Secret Angels and while strutting down the catwalk for their 2006 runway show, her shoe slipped off. Like a pro, she kept walking and smiling as if nothing had changed!
Remember those Christian Louboutin fetish heels with the sky high heel that definitely weren't made for walking? Well it seems someone else makes them with a 6.5" high heel that makes it very difficult to walk in. But as fetish heels go, some people can wear them and (struggle) to walk in them. The proof is in this video, just make sure your feet are in comfortable shoes or they may literally start aching at the sight of someone attempting the painful walk.
Here's a fun Friday afternoon video for you all from YouTube. Watch as hypnotist, Tom Silver, has a woman believing that she hears music in her shoe and the sale assistant is Madonna. Don't think it's real? Watch the woman's reaction as she watches the video of herself.
While we might be most of the way through summer, it's still interesting to get an insight to what was suppose to be the hot item and how that translated into every day where. Check out this video by Fashion Files, they go through this summer's hottest must have items. They named Proenza Schouler studded heels and gladiator sandals as the must have shoes. Were they hottest items or did Fashion Files get it wrong?
I love Beatrix Ong, their shoes are the right mix of girlie, chic and sexy. Now the designer who's worked with Jimmy Choo, has opened her flagship store in London. We learn a little about Beatrix through her store manager, who also shows us her latest shoe collection in a video by WeddingTV. The bonus things about the Beatrix Ong flagship store is their bridal salon where brides to be can try on shoes which can be custom made to go with their wedding dresses.
