Fly London 'Yedi' cut-out wedge shoes

fly-london.jpgFly London's wedge-heel range is generating a lot of interest at the moment, and is prompting a bit of a love-hate reaction from people who haven't quite made up their mind about thick soles. With each new style that emerges though, more and more shoe gazers seem to be falling for their chunky charms, and this is a fresh new look I can see being a top seller this summer.

The addition of blue and white stripes lends the shoes a lighter, spring-like feel which will work well with shorts, flared skirts and capri pants. Cut-out detailing at the front nods to the season's floral obsession and will make these distinctively clonky shoes work fine with all your floaty attire.

Wedding shoes for the modern bride

stellaweddingshoe.jpgFor years, wedding shoes have all looked very similar. Mid-heel, cream and pointy toed. All a little bit 90s, no?

Recently though, I've noticed an increase in the variety of ranges.Next to the traditional styles sit pretty Mary Jane heels, silver peeptoes and even a few flat sandals.

No doubt this is down to the evolution of weddings itself, and the steady increase in beach weddings (which make killer heels a no no)

So here are a few alternatives to get you thinking. Starting with this Stella shoe from designer Aruna Seth.

Pin-hole wedges by Tabitha Simmonds

brogues.jpgLet's take a break from the gritty reality of sale shopping for a moment and dream, dream, dream. These beautiful wedges by Tabitha Simmonds are some of the scrummiest new shoes I've seen recently, and I don't recall seeing this style decorated with broguing in quite the same way before.

The miniature perforations on the soft white leather make them look so elegant and graceful, and I'll bet these shoes would work with more outfits than one might expect. Skirts, formal trousers or even jeans could be given a touch of class with these fabulous elevating shoes.

Animal print wedgie boots in Boden's sale

boden-wedges.jpgThis scrummy, leopard print wedge boot is one of a small number still remaining in Boden's sale, a great find for anyone who wants to walk on the wild side without enduring discomfort (comfy shoes truly are this label's forte).

With their ultra-fashionable wedge, these booties will have you walking into 2010 with a spring in your step and a bit of extra 'grrr' to tackle whatever it cares to throw at you. Team them with black skinny jeans for pure, laid-back style.

DKNY 'Mona' colour block wedge sandals

dkny-shoes.jpgAll labels have their moments (and non-moments) and DKNY is a name whose star seems to be in ascendant at the moment. We're certainly seeing some great things on the footwear front, with these super chic colour block wedges taking on where this season's much coveted two-tone pumps left off.

Very versatile with their black panelling and neutral patent leather, these would blend in seamlessly with a transitional or spring summer outfit. They're the sort of shoes you just won't want to take off...

Great deal on wedge booties at Yoox

wedge-booties.jpgI just spotted these super chic wedge ankle boots over at Yoox, where they've made the interesting decision to slash the price of these Pompili boots from £89 to £59, which seems odd considering how hot the look is right now.

They're available in three different colours: deep jade (pictured), brown and military green and I am seriously tempted. I can see these working with any casual item, whether a skirt or trousers combo, and lifting you off the ground in comfort and style.

Topshop Emma Cook Wedge booties

emma-cook.jpgPerhaps it's my hormones playing up again, but some shoes just make me want to go 'awwww!' and these wedge booties, with their cute little tassels and subtle brogue detailing are definitely in that category.

These boots would lift your feet high above any snowdrifts we might hope to experience this winter, and will really add style to a casual outfit. The styling is just shoe-like enough to wear with a skirt too, making them a highly versatile choice that makes them well worth the high-end high street price tag. Tempted? You bet I am!
