Fly London's demi-wedge 'Fayre' courts

fly-lomfon-fayre.jpg When I first found these 'Fayre; shoes by Fly London, I was put off by the chunkiness of them. But something kept drawing me back to them, and I think it can only be that little knotted bow on the front. It makes a nice change from the more usual bows we see on the front of shoes, and the contrast between the white trim and the dark green shoe gives these a vaguely nautical feel. The demi-wedge, meanwhile, makes them more interesting than a regular court shoe (or, indeed, a regular wedge), while the rubber sole should make them easy to walk in. Something's still stopping me from liking them unreservedly, though: what do you think?

Henny James gold Grazia wedges at Viva la Diva

p31_x_ap560_x_large.jpgI always find high heels without backs to be the hardest shoes to walk in, but that doesn't mean they're not pretty enough for me to keep on buying them regardless. The latest ones to attract my attention are these gold 'Grazia' wedges by Henry James, which are available at Viva la Diva for £35. I like the shape of the shoe itself, but I particularly like the contrast of the pink flowers against the gold leather - lovely!

Bargain Tuesday: Alloy's floral print 'Zapper' wedges

alloy-wedges.jpgFor a pair of shoes that only cost $26.50, I think these 'Zapper' wedges from Alloy are lots of fun. The bright colours of this floral print gives the shoe a slightly psychedelic look, and then there's that wooden wedge heel, which is an impressive 4" high. They're by Michael Antonio and would work well with a white sundress, or some light wash denim. They're also available in black.

Barratts white wooden wedges

barratts wedge white heel wood.jpgWedges make such good summer shoes and Barratts' white pair are curvaceously appealing. The simple shape reminds me of Minimalist housing, and they will look so chic in the heat.

They're only £35 which makes them a perfect holiday purchase and will look stunning with maxi dresses, tailored shorts and carrot leg trousers. You might even be lucky and get some UK sunshine to wear them on home turf!

Bertie concealed mid wedge slingback shoes

bertie-mid-heel-wedges.jpgLooking for a shoe that's neither high nor low, neither a stiletto nor a wedge? Well, these red Bertie shoes may just be the answer, because they fall somewhere in between all of those things, and manage to look pretty good while they're doing it, into the bargain.

The gathered toe and bright red leather makes these more interesting than many mid-height heels, while the slingback gives them a bit of elegance. They're also available in black, which would make a good, comfortable work shoe, but the red will add a pop of colour. They're £70.

Brown cross strap wedges from Dorothy Perkins

brown-cross-strap-wedges.jpgIs it just me, or have Dorothy Perkins picked up their game lately in the shoe department? These cross strap wedges, for instance, are only £28, but they have the look of a more expensive shoe, and OK, they're not real leather, but they do look rather classy. I like the way the straps cross over low down on the foot rather than near the ankle: that should help to create the illusion of a longer leg, and I guess most of us wouldn't say no to that, would we?

I always think brown sandals are great for the warmer months, as they add a touch of class to even the most casual of outfits. These are also available in black and white, though, if you don't agree.

Black and tan wedge sandals from Monsoon

monsoon black tan sandal wedge.jpgThe combo of black and tan always catches my eye, and when its a leather/patent combo even better. Monsoon's Claire wedges (£40) are the perfect sensible height for hot weather walking, soggy parks and pebbly beaches. The tan and black go well with a range of neutrals for a stylish summer look and the retro stylings give a slight air of Agatha Christie.
