See by Chloe lace-up platform sneakers

chloe-sneakers.jpgUh-oh. It's a platform sneaker, folks. The addition of platform soles to sneakers is something I can never quite accept, although, having said that, these are some of the least offensive examples of the genre I've seen. It may have something to do with that sunny yellow colour, or the fact that I do appreciate the thought of adding heels to casual shoes, even although I don't often appreciate the end result. I definitely wouldn't pay $265 for them, either. If you would, they're See by Chloe, and you can get them at Saks.

Kate Spade's 'Lorna' t-strap wedges

kate-spade-nautical.jpgI hate to use the word "nautical" again, because it seems to be the default way to desribe anything that contains red and blue and/or stripes, but it was the word that jumped into my mind when I spotted these Kate Spade wedges at Saks. They're $295, and the kind of thing that would look good with shorts, or anything containing the aforementioned red or navy. I like the stripes on the heel, which add something different to these summery wedges. Something, dare I say it, nautical...

Kate Spade Cabana striped wedge platforms

kate_spade_cabana_wedges.jpg

I do apologise for teasing you all with summer shoe after summer shoe lately. It's not a very nice thing to show you pretty sandals, when the reality is, you won't be wearing any of these beauties for at least another three months (unless you've booked a fab overseas holiday, in which case, I salute you).

But it can't be helped - these are the shoes that are filling up the 'New In' pages on all my favourite websites, and funnily enough, all the 'Sale' pages too. Quick to jump out at me today, were these Kate Spade Cabana platforms. The vibrant orange, the stripes, the woven raffia wedge... get me to the south of France pronto! $138.99 from Bluefly.

Sigerson Morrison gladiator grommet wedges

gladiator-wedges.jpgWe've been featuring rather a lot of gladiator-style sandals recently, but as you may have noticed, they're a little hard to avoid right now! (And here was me thinking last summer was as gladiator-centric as it was going to get!) Luckily, these sandals come in lots of different styles, and i think these Sigerson Morrison wedges are one of the easiest ways to wear the trend. Not only will they be a little more comfortable than some of the platform stilettos we've been seeing, they're more flattering than the flat versions of the gladiators, and will work for both casual and dress occasions, making them versatile, too.

Are they versatile enough to justify the $780 price? If you think so, you can get them at Neiman Marcus.

Chloe oversized bow wedges

chloe-bow-wedges.jpgAww! Low wedges can look a little bit grannyish, but they're also one of the most comfortable kinds of summer sandals you'll find, so the fact that Chloe have prettied this pair up with the oversized bow on the front makes them worthy of a mention, I think!

The heel on these is 2.5", so they're actually high enough to be flattering to the leg too, and the blue colour will look good with summer dresses. They're £465 from Net-a-Porter.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua python trim lace wedge sandals

floralwedgesss.jpgGone are the days when wedges used to be one of the least interesting choices in the shoe world. These python trim sandals by Alessandro Dell'Acqua are proof that today's wedges are anything but boring - and anything but cheap, too: these are 605 euros! Still, that combination of python and lace is almost guaranteed to turn heads, and these come with the high platform sole that's attached to just about every shoe in production at the moment, so you won't have to miss out on that trend, either! Get them here.

Ravel 'Bodhan' cut out wedge heel sandals

ravel-bodhan.jpg

Taking style notes from the likes of Giuseppe Zanotti et al, these 'Bodhan' wedges from Ravel are a cheaper way to wear a style that's been filtering down from the catwalk to the high street for a while now. These still aren't "cheap", exactly, at £80, but they're still less expensive than the designer versions, and will allow you to walk tall (very tall) and attract attention everywhere you go. They're available at Additions Direct.
