Last year my daughter was a sleeping little bundle, but now she can walk the likelihood is that I will have to go out in the rain sometime this autumn, and I may even have to play in the snow so I’d better be prepared. As suede boots really aren’t the thing for splashing through puddles and having snowball fights I’m going to have to buy a pair of wellies and they have to special. And they have to be pink so I’m thinking of this ‘Sweetheart’ pair from Evercreatures, £29.99. Do you think they’re me?

I haven’t bought wellies for years (I just stay in if it’s raining), but I absolutely adore this pair. They are so not me - I’m more of a pink fluffy bunny kind of girl - so they should shock a few people when I come running through puddles in them. They are the Tattoo city turquoise rain boot, US$60, from Chooka Boots and they look like a nice sturdy pair of boots with an unexpected death rock edge to them.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful but unfortunately there's nothing delightful about it. Looking out of my office window, all grey and glum, it's hard to believe that we're supposed to be in the height of summer, and I'm doubly bummed as my birthday crops up this coming Saturday. The weatherman predicts sunny skies but just in case I end up getting wet toes in my planned sandals to go with my birthday dress (all girls should have a birthday dress) I'm hoping to get myself a pair of these pretty wellies. Not only will they keep my feet and legs splash free, the ivory rose print is as soft and romantic as the style of my summer (ha!) frock. Pick them up yourself at Funky-Wellington-Boots.co.uk for £29.99.

Let's face it: for those of us living in the UK, this summer hasn't exactly been a great one, weather wise, has it? If you think we've got it bad, though, imagine all those poor brides who were dreaming of the perfect summer wedding, and are now faced with the prospect of marquees sinking into the mud and acres of damp grass to walk across for their photos. Luckily, though, all is not lost, and our sister blog Bridalwave has come up with the perfect solution in the shape of these wedding wellies from designer Marsha Ward. These are hand-customised to your specifications, so you can skip the Marabou trim if you'd prefer, and ask for some extra diamante or love hearts instead. I have to admit, it's not quite what most brides dream off when it comes to wedding shoes, but it's certainly practical, and you can always keep your strappy sandals for the evening!

Apparently, the 15th July is going to be the only truly sunny day of this year, and the rest of the season we can expect rain, rain and a bit more rain. So forgive me for making Shoewawa a bit of a wellyfest at the moment...so much so that I've added a new 'wellies' category to the site! Needs must, my damp friends. Tamara Henriques, queen of the fashionista wellington boot, has answered all my secret pleas with these blue butterfly print babies. How cute would they look with a denim skirt and those requisite leggings (I know, but in the changing weather I've had to give in). See the website for stockists, and expect to pay about £30 for a pair.
