High heeled wellies by Marc Jacobs

mj-wellies.jpgWell, I guess if anyone was going to make wellies with a heel, it would be Marc Jacobs, wouldn't it? And OK, "High" isn't exactly the world for this heel, but it is higher and narrower than the ones you'd find on most wellingtons, which makes me wonder where you'd actually wear these? After all, most rubber boots are worn for trampling through mud, and a heel isn't generally a great idea for that kind of environment, but hey, if you'd rather your rain boots had a bit of height to them, then these may be just what you're looking for.

I have to say, I love the pattern on these. The $229 price tag? Not so much. Get them at Zappos Couture.

Betseyville by Betsey Johnson 'Lucky' rain boot

betsey-rain-boot.jpgWith autumn on the way, those of you who don't live in the UK (and have need of rain boots all the year round as a result) may find yourself in need of some more weatherproof footwear.

Personally, I don't think I'd pay $109.95 for a pair of wellies, but if you would, these ones by Betsey Johnson certainly have a designer look about them with that print, wedge heel and tie detail on the front. They won't be to everyone's taste, but those who love them can pick them up at Nordstrom.

'Scarfun' wedge wellies by Alexandre Herchcovitch

pink-wedge-wellies.jpgWhen you live in the UK, "summer" is just as likely to mean days and days of rain as it is to mean lots of hot sunshine, and that can be bad news for all those cute shoes you've been buying. (And for your poor feet, of course). Does the rain bother you enough to make you want to wear these wedge 'Scarfun' boots by Alexandre Herchcovitch, though? They're certainly a less clumsy shape than most Wellington boots, and in the brown and black colours they're also available in, they wouldn't even look too obtrusive peeping out from underneath your trousers. They've just been reduced to $89, but is this the kind of thing you'd be willing to wear, or will you just be sticking to the occasional wet pair of feet?

Skull printed Wellington boots from ASOS

skull-wellies.jpgSadly for those of us who live in a damp climate, the season of flip flops can also be the season of wellies - and that's particularly true if you're going to be attending a summer festival or, indeed, doing anything else that may involve lots of mud. In recent years, the manufacturers of Wellington boots have cottoned onto this fact, and have been providing us with lots of lovely wellies, most of them involving some kind of floral pattern or bright colour.

These ones are different. These skull print wellies from ASOS are the bad-ass cousin of all the floral print numbers and will help to give your festival outfit a bit of bite. I wear my wellies when I'm doing the garden - a chore I hate so much that I'm thinking these could well be the most appropriate footwear for the task. They're £18.

Planning a summer of festival-going? Hunter wellies now available at ASOS!

hunter_wellies.jpgNo, they're not exactly glamorous, but if you're planning on heading to any of the UK music festivals this summer, "glamour" will probably have to make way for "practical", given that you'll be wallowing in mud much of the time. That's unless you're Kate Moss, of course: Kate always manages to look glamorous at Glastonbury, usually while wearing a pair of denim shorts and her trusty Hunter wellies, and now you can too, thanks to ASOS, who are selling the Wellingtons for £55 per pair. Whether you choose to wear them with denim hotpants is, of course, up to you!

Swims ballerina overshoe - stamp your mark on the earth

swims.jpg

How great are these Swims ballerina galoshes? Sometimes you just don't want to stomp around in knee-high wellington boots in order to walk the dog or stroll down to the corner store for the paper on those rainy days. So these waterproof pumps - which slip on over your own shoes - will keep your footwear (and feet) dry and warm. And upping the charm factor, they also have a leafy print rubber sole enabling you to leave behind your footprint - but at least it'll be one fitting in with nature.
They're €93.75 and you can purchase them from Swimsstore.com.
