We've been hearing whisperings about the kitten heel coming back for months, but to be honest I've never quite taken the rumours seriously. The style has been in exile for many years, and surely it time for the demi heel to claw its way back into fashion so soon after it was cast aside.
But proof has materialised over at Net-a-Porter in the most undeniable form imaginable: on the bottom of a Louboutin shoe. Yes, Christian himself has allowed himself to be distracted from his usual, more robust heels and has brought out a whole range of kitten styles, including this one that's already sold out. What do you think?
Jimmy Choo for Ugg? Who'd have thunk it! But you're looking at the most highly coveted new style from the Australian brand, which announced its collaboration with the designer back in January. The boot reflects much of Choo's autumn/winter range, with its star-shaped studs, and if you believe what you read on Twitter, we gather that Nicky Hilton already has a pair.
As you might expect, the collaboration is dividing fashion opinion, with lovers and haters seemingly in equal measure, and a few being driven to ask what's next...Christian Louboutin for Crocs? I'm keen to know what you guys think, so please let us know in the poll below...
Acne came from nowhere to create a series of 'it' boots over the past year or so, and it seems that their designers are still pushing the boundaries of what's aesthetically (or physically) acceptable in footwear. Their latest style is this hybric suede 'cut-in' wedge boot, which is available at My Wardrobe.
The wedge will certainly help you 'live on the edge' and it's a striking style that's bound to attract attention. But would you worry about toppling over in this irregular style?
When Vogue talks, people listen, and right now it's telling us that we'll all soon be wearing mid heels on our feet. The ultimate example of this look, so they say, is this Isabel Marant style called 'Poppy', which is available in red or black and features an eminently sensible mid-heel.
This is a subject that always divides opinion. On the one hand, we breathe a collective sigh of relief that we can wear shoes that are easy on the feet while still following fashion, but on another, we worry about looking like our Mums. I have to say though: if there are enough styles like this on offer, which manage to be stylish and sexy without stilettos, I'll be first in the queue. What do you think?
Gossip Girl's Blake Lively seems to be trying to distract us from the fact that she's wearing a micro-skirt, with a pair of attention-grabbing Louboutins. The shoes look fabulous on her, of course, and work wonders in their usual leg-lengthening, body-enhancing way. But do they really work with the outfit? Blake can certainly 'work the look', but we can't help thinking that the shoes demand something a little softer.
I can't seem to make up my mind what I think of the shoe and boot styles with 'socks' coming halfway up the ankle, as they scream impracticality, particularly in the summer months. However, the colour contrasts they create look pretty cool, and they're certainly 'bang on trend' at the moment.
As an example, I've picked out these 'Alice' boots, which have just gone on sale at ASOS. The 'shoe' portion of this item is made from hard leather with black denim on top, and the frilly sock part is simply described as 'other materials', which look kind of suede-like. What do you think of the look over-all?
A lot of shoe bloggers have been getting excited about Alexander Wang's new goat-hair high-heeled 'Polina' boots, with many hailing them as the shape of things to come this winter.
The boots, which have the whole 'yeti chic' vibe going on remind me an awful lot of Cyber goth clubbing boots (doesn't the alternative always influence the mainstream?) and am in two minds as to whether this is a good thing! How about you?
